I woke up with a cold sore (bottom lip) this morning...I hardly ever get them, maybe once a year max., usually in the winter. Does anyone know of any gel or cream that treats cold sores fast? I know that Blistex helps alleviate the pain, but what works best to actually treat the cold sore? (link)

The best treatment is Valtrex Oral and Zovirax Ointment (oral treatment is much more effective). But, if you can't get to your doctor to get those prescriptions just try to keep the cold sore clean and dry. I find that rubbing alcohol works wonders. Check out this website as well...
