Hi, I call myself Ignatz after Dan Herriman's character in the old "Krazy Kat" comic strip. I'm 44, father of 3, husband to one, crazy about music and books and food and movies and history and martial arts. I've had some wild and crazy times in my life, and I figure I might as well put in some of my perspective.
I promise not to talk down to anyone or make fun,and I promise not to BS anyone. If you're old enough to ask a frank question, you're old enough to get a frank answer. Oh, and if you ask me a question directly, please be patient. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. My life's a bit hectic. :-)

I am going to have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled in about a year or two. Nobody else in my family had theirs pulled...So I was wondering...
How much does it hurt on a scale of one to ten?
Where does it hurt the most at (top or bottom)?
I would like at least two people to answer...
Thank youu! I get really nervous about surgeries and things, so I was j/w.. Thankss (link)

Okay, if you're getting all 4 pulled at once, they'll probably give you general anesthesia. You won't feel a thing while they're doing it.
Afterwards, your face will be puffy, and the places where the teeth were dug out will hurt. They'll give you good pain medicine to deal with it, but expect to be out of commission for a couple of days. Kick back, relax, read some books, eat soft foods, and follow the surgeon's reccomendations on caring for your mouth.
If the dentist wants to use local anasthetic, get a good reason why. Pulling out wisdom teeth under local, especially impacted wisdom teeth, is very painful. The reasons for using local over general should be along the lines of "You'll die if I use general." I had two pulled under local, and it was definitely one of my less favorite experiences. If all 4 teeth will be pulled in one session, insist on a general anesthesia.
Hope this helps.
