do stores have to ask for permission from the artist to play their song in their store?
what about like, abercrombie? cos i know they also stream their music on their website too. (link)

They do need permission. I used to work for Abercrombie, and one season we had to pull the playlist & play something from a different season because there was some sort of dispute over one of the songs, because apparently the artist hadn't been paid properly by the person who made the remix or something.
