I'm 13/f, and I have an overprotective mom. She can't leave me home alone for 15 minutes. I was going to my friend's house. I told my mom that my friend's babysitter was going to be there, which was true, and my mom didn't believe me. She followed me to my friend's door and STUCK her head into the house, and looked around. I was SO embarrassed. She could have at least asked my friend if her mom was home or something. And I'm going to my friend's house soon and I'm so scared that my mom will follow me to the door again. My mom never used to be so overprotective. HELP!! How do I get to calm her nerves down? I live in a town where nothing bad has ever happened. (link)

You first have to realize that you are only 13 years old. And do you know how many 13 year old girls get raped in killed.Your mom is just looking out for you.If you want to have her call over there and make sure the babysitters this there when your friends parents are away. But you have to understand your mom cares about you that is why she does what she does even if you think it is embarassing to you. Just because you live in a town where nothing bad happens those are the towns where things can happen. You need to thank your mother for caring about you the way she does. If you don't believe me about saying that towns were nothing bad happens can happen turn your tv on an check out the news you will understand what I am saying to you.
