about

My name is Elly and I am 18 years old. I live in Michigan and I graduated High School in '07. I'm currently attending a great college, but I'm home for the summer. It's too nice outside to sit on the computer all day, so I might not be as active on here as I would like.

I guess a good way to describe me is experienced. I've discovered a lot about life and I can't wait to discover more... while having fun at the same time of course! ...BUT, like everyone, I have experienced things in life that I rather wish I hadn't. And I also feel that those bad experiences qualify me to help others with this column.

I have been in a serious relationship for over two and a half years now. I personally know that love is a difficult thing to nurture. It takes a lot of work. Life is NOT a fairytale where two people can simply love each other and everything will just fall into place. It doesn't work like that in the real world.

People on Advicenators are starting to disappoint me. Everyone says "ooh I want to help! I've experienced EVERYTHING!" Yet, I can't tell you how many questions I see with answers like "you could have googled that" or "we're not going to do your homework" or "I'm so sick of 'wow does he like me?!' questions." I used to sort of be like that, but now I realize how hypocritical that is. If I know the answer to a question, I will answer to the best of my ability without making you feel stupid for asking it in the first place. Advicenators is going to turn into a pretty nasty place if people just keep brushing off questions like that.

Rate or don't rate. I really don't care. But don't give me a 1 just because I tell you something you don't want to hear. Go to your mom for advice if you want sugarcoated answers.

I can give excellent advice on:
relationships/sex
friendship
family issues
anything about animals (i worked at a vet for several years)
college

Any dietery options for getting rid of pimples? I HAVE HEAPS :( - if it helps in any way - im 13/m... uhmm i already have a cream - Clearasil.. its kinda helping in ways but... yeahh.. i know i should stay low on fatty foods but is there any other things i should do???

thnx heepz

I would like to point out that the foods you eat have NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on your skin condition. I have been told this by the three dermotoligists I have seen. Food has NOTHING to do with acne.

You should consider going to a dermatologist and getting a prescription for a strong acne cream. Clearasil, if I'm not mistaken, can be bought over the counter, correct? You'll find much much better results with a prescription acne cream from a doctor.

Drinking lots of water does help flush toxins from your body, but it will have little effects on clearing your skin.

I suggest asking your doctor about the cream "Neobenz."

You see, benzoil peroxide is the main chemical used in all acne medicines. What makes Neobenz different from other medications is that it is pure benzoil peroxide in cream form. There are three different levels of it too, so if you had really bad acne, your doctor might prescribe you the strongest one. Definately ask about that if you are serious about getting clear skin.

You also need to invest in a GOOD face wash and you must use it at least once EVERY SINGLE DAY. There are lots of face washes you can choose from, it just depends on your skin type when it comes to picking one. Neutrogena products are my personal favorite. I see very good results every time I use them.

A good idea would be to experiment with several types of face wash. Try one tube, use the whole thing up, and if there is no difference, don't use it again. Then try another type, etc. until you find one that works everytime. Your doctor can recommend what type(s) of face washes are best for YOUR skin type.

As long as your stick to your doctor's instructions for applying the cream and you wash your face at least once a day, you should see significant and lasting results.

Good luck!
