Well, I've heard that theory. Really, Freud said we're all neurotic, but it's the psychotic ones that are really mentally ill. More of us than not have some sort of phobia or some neurosis (anxiety, depression, etc). We have an adjustment disorder, etc. Some say this is just the human condition and is what makes us all have different interests, likes, dislikes, temperaments, and personalities.
