Q: hii, uhm i have a problem. my friend is having a pool party towmorrow and i have my period. youd prob all say use a tampon, but i hate using them they hurt me so much. there are also going to be boys at this party who will try to push me in. what should i do?

Pads in the water is a bad idea (Think about those commercials with babies with water bogged diapers on from going into the water). Your period does not stop in the water (refer to ivillage here: http://health.ivillage.com/gynoperiod/0,,3fq,00.html for professional advice), you just don't notice it as much. The reason tampons hurt you is because you're not putting them in properly, or because they're too big. Purchase the smallest size tampons available and have your mom (if available) or another female help you with putting them in the first few times. Also, it's easier to put a tampon in if you're laying down on your back than if you're standing up.
