My name is Lyndsey and I'm 17 years old. I live in Lexington, South Carolina. I pride myself on being mature for my age with a good head on my shoulders, but I find I can be snippy when I hear something that just hits a nerve. I have a lot of strong opinions and I have no problem arguing them. I'm a very open-minded person and very tolerant of most things.
Immaturity is a big pet peeve of mine, as is self-centered, narrow-minded, and ignorant people. I can be cruel when it comes to these things, but sometimes certain people need to be told their faults. I know mine and I have no problem being confronted with them. If someone has a problem with me, online or in person, I'd rather they tell me and we can resolve the issue in a mature fashion. I won't tell you want to WANT to hear, just what you NEED to hear.
On a less serious note, I'm a laid back person and I enjoy shopping, the internet, and my favorite TV shows (Queer as Folk, The L Word, Friends, American Idol, Will & Grace, House). I don't have a large group of friends, but the ones I have are close and I love them to death. I generally enjoy life, minus the whole school deal. I'm a junior in high school and I can't wait to move on to college. I am an honors student and I hope to go to the University of South Carolina and then eventually into the medical field, possibly psychology.
If you have any questions or want advice, I'm here for ya, babes.

Well according to her BMI, she's only slightly overweight. She's right, she's NOT medically obese. If she lost 9 lbs, she would be in the healthy weight range. That's NOT obese. At her height she'd have to be 165 lbs to be obese.
And making fun of her will not help anything. That's just plain mean and the only thing it will do is make her have low self esteem. Low self esteem does not equal weight loss, that's for sure.
Maybe if you guys were nicer to her about it instead of being plain rude and saying "you're obese!" to her face, she'd make an attempt to lose weight. And even if she doesn't, like I said, she's not THAT overweight.
She's not in any medical danger and it's not YOU, so I don't really understand why you care. Is it because you're embarrassed to have an overweight cousin? If so, then that's your problem, not hers. If she's comfortable how she is, then she should stay that way. If you're embarassed or disgusted by her, then don't hang out with her.
She's definitely not going to change for you or the family. If she's going to change, it should be for HER. And apparently she doesn't feel she needs to change. In that case, she's doing the right thing by disregarding your hurtful statements about her weight.
Just try to be more sensitive about things like this.
EDIT: I DID answer your question. I said to stop being mean, be more sensitive, and nicely talk to her about it. I answered, it just wasn't the answer you WANTED to hear. Get over it.
