hi, im a 17 year old girl, and ive been talking to this guy for a while. and im really interested in him and i think he is in me. we are going on a date today. we would have a couple weeks ago but he became very sick with mono. mono has 3 stages the first stage where you get really sick, the second where your really tired, and the third where you are recovering. so i've never had mono and i do not know how contagious it is in the second stage (which he is currently in). basically hes been telling me that hes not really contagious anymore but i think that is just so he can kiss me... so what do i do?.. do i kiss him? or if i shouldnt kiss him... what could we do instead.. remember its the first date but we have been talking for a couple weeks like everyday so nothing too promiscuous. :) (link)
1st off you can catch it from more than kissing. It also can be contracted by sharing a toothbrush, drinking straw, or eating utensil with someone who has the virus. It's generally believed that a person can spread the infection for the entire time he or she has symptoms and even for several months after the symptoms are completely gone. Kiss him on the cheek to be sure if he says anything about you not kissing him tell you don't kiss on the 1st date (good excuse) Its better to be safe than sorry. Please note that he can spread the infection for the entire time he has symptoms and probably for a few months after his symptoms are completely gone. Makig him happy with a kiss is not worth getting sick Good Luck :-)
