I'm a woman in Texas. I'm married and have a school-aged child. I have a medical background. I'm quite liberal, socially. I love helping people with medical, parenting, and social questions. Don't ask me about tech stuff or finances, because I need advice on those things myself!

in the secret, it kinda says that you control your own destiny. i always thought hashem controlled everything. in chumash class, we learned that hashem is involved in all of our lives. but the secret says that the law of attraction makes no mistakes; that it works every time. dosent this sort of go against religioon? As a believer in evolution, I'd have to say that the secret, which says you control your own destiny is not what most of us believe. Because it states that you control your destiny by controlling your environment in a kind of mind-over-matter way. If you see only thin people, you will be thin, etc. It's actually not religious nor logical. It's something close to superstitious, or a belief in the supernatural powers of the human mind. It's not religion, it's not logic. It's new-age belief in the hidden powers of the brain.
