Okay im only 14!! turning 15 in a few months..well anyways me and my boyfriend have been going out for about a year and we`re still virgins and my mom is all like "you are getting birth control" and i say"no i dont want it" and i dont get why my mom wants me to be on it so bad. i mean me and my boyfriend obviously talked about it but im not ready to lose it till im about 16 going on 17.. and my mom keeps pressuring me and another reason why i dont want to do it is cause it makes you fat.. how do i get her to stop!!. please help me

Your mother clearly wants you to be safe & protected & that's great! Just have a talk with her & tell her everything you just said to us. Tell her you aren't ready to have sex & don't plan to do anything until you are a certain age (& when you're ready.) Also, reassure her that when you do decide to become sexually active, you will talk to her then about getting on birth control. Even if you aren't sexually active, birth control is still great to look into. I used to be on it (& plan to get back on it soon) & it definitely helped my periods & cramps. Weight gain is a side effect, but not everyones body will react the same. Infact, I noticed I maintained my weight (even lost a few lbs) while I was on it. It all depends on the person. But if you ever decide to get on birth control & you are experiencing problems with the brand you are on, talk to your gynecologist & they can switch you to another one. The person who responded below me doesn't really know what they are talking about. (Yes, you can switch brands if one doesn't work out & no, you do not need to be on birth control for the rest of your life.) Hope that helped. :)
