About 3 months ago me and my ex broke up. We had only gone out a little over a month and he broke up with me cause of some other girl he liked. But we managed to still be good friends and we hang out and stuff, but with groupd of people not alone. Well the other day he got a new girlfriend, and its been making me really sad. Cause ya see i guess im still not fully over it all. I am 16 and he was my first boyfriend so it was like big to me (not to sound obsessed or whatever) but we had a good relationship everyone said so. I wasnt in love with him cause we didnt go out long enough but i guess just wished it lasted. So how can i help myself get over him. Thanks. (link)
I, as well as many other girls, can completely relate to your situation. I went through a very similar thing over the summer, and I was heartbroken when he broke up with me. Eventually, after going through a little too much dark chocolate and pep talks from my friends, I realized that I was above all that. Why pine over a stupid boy? We should be fine as we are without a boyfriend in our life! Many girls see themselves as "incomplete" (or something similar to it) without a boyfriend or a boy in their life. They give their boyfriends a bit of themselves in the relationship, and when it's over, they feel as though they've lost a part of themselves in the process. What you need to do is think of yourself as a whole person - all by yourself: 100% without a boy. You've got amazing friends, looks, brains, a sense of humor.. just think about it! Why would you even need a boy? Remind yourself of the positives in your life, and you'll forget all about boys. Fill up your schedule with parties, events, and school, and surround yourself with people and activities you love until it's brimming with things to do and people to see. Pour yourself into school! Read a great book! Find a sport you love! Join a club! Host a party! Volunteer at your church, temple, or an animal shelter! Find lots of things to do to make your life productive and fun. Before you know it, your planner will be full, your grades will be up, and you'll forget all about him. Then you can go on from there more satisfied and confident with yourself.
