Next year I will be a senior and I want to try out for the football team. I only want to kick the ball. The only problem is I'm a female that stands at 5'3 120 pounds. I know of many female kickers in college as well as highschool so the coaches can't so much discriminate. I want to become the best kicker in the school. Can someone please give me some tips. I got a whole year to get ready. So please give me all you can. THanks (link)
Do leg stretches, practice kicking a football or a soccer ball, and strengthen your legs and butt. Work on your calves, but most of your power comes from your thighs and your butt. Do leg lifts and squats. Also, while you're at it, start working out. The coach will like you even more if you are strong. Kickers at times may be the last resort for tackling. Just because you lift weights doesn't mean that you will get bulky. Lifting a couple of times a week will make you stronger, but you won't gain muscle mass. I play high school football, so if you ever have any questions or want some tips about training or anything else, just ask me. Hope I helped!
