I just bought tall boots, and I'm interested in how they feel? Like, do they work like half chaps with more grip? and how long does it take to break them in? (i'm leaving for sleepaway camp in week, with riding, and i wont be able to ride with them at my lesson barn before i leave) thanks!

Tall boots...are, well, I'm going to be honest with you...they are a pain to break in. They work alot like half chaps in theory, but hurt a heck of a lot more. While half chaps are cloth, most tall boots are leather based (except for these winter boots that I have that I'm in love with) and take more to break in. The best advice I can give is walk around in them whenever you can. (I bought mine before my first show and spent the entire day before in them.) You can also stand with your toes on the stairs, hold on to the railing, and push your heel down, which is also a great excercise for getting those heels down for everything in riding!
