Hey guys!
I'm working on my homework right now...and I'm having a horrible time figuring out half lives!
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out this problem...
The half-life of polonium-218 is 3.0 minutes. If you start with 20.0 g, how long will it be before ony 1.0 g remains?
I'm really stuck right now and if you could please help me...I'll really appriciate (sp?) it!

I tried to find the actual formula for this problem, but i can't really locate it.
so here's a site that basically does the problem for you. Just pick which variable you want to solve for (in your case time), and input the values it requests.

I put in your problem and got 12.966 mins (pretty much 13 mins).
