I'm here to help. I know that I have question and need advice, and sometimes its better to ask a complete stranger than someone you know really well. I try my best to give you a real answer to your question. So please, ask away!

I am a former self-injurer, and I finally stopped cutting at the end of 8th grade (I'm going into 9th). I've been happy since the end of 8th grade and haven't had a reason to cut, or I'v refrained myself from cutting. But that's how I deal with stress. And I'm afraid I'll relapse this year from stress. I've been to therapy, and I write a lot. Is there any other way I could possibly deal with stress that isn't destructive?

thanks in advance!

I know where you're coming from. I myself have just stopped that a couple months ago, and the temptation to go back is great. But what I find helps is if I call a friend right when I feel the urge. And just hearing there voice, and talking to them normally gets my mind off the stress. You don't even have to talk to them about whats making you want to cut, or whats stressing you out, sometimes just knowing someone is there is helpful.
The other thing you can do, when things get really bad, is snap a rubber band against your wrist. But try and keep that as a last resort, because although it isn't cutting, it is a form of SI. But sometimes when the urge is that great, you need that release, but try and save that for when you really need it. Rubbing a piece of ice against my wrist also helps too.

Running is a big thing for me. I go on many many long runs when I feel like i'm about to break down from something. But it doesn't have to be running, going on a long walk, listning to your music just a little too loud, playing with a pet, they can all get your mind off of the stress.

Good luck to you. I know its hard. If you ever want to talk to someone send me one in my inbox, or AIM : LeeLee661212
