im tryin out for freshman girls basketball---i cant do pushups to save my life!! what can i do to work out the "push ups" muscles???

YAY im not alone, im a cheerleader, and im going to be on the freshman sqaud next year, im trying to do that but i cant.
my cheer trainer taught me something....
put your hands out to a wall,fall forward and push back do that like 40 times it will work your upper body strength, i know it sounds wierd BUT TRUST ME IT WORKS!!
