Q: How exactly is being anorexic bad for you? People has said that if you're anorexic your body loses all these nutrients but what are the actual like 'symptoms' you get if you're anorexic. Besides dizzyness and fatigue.
Thanks I'll rate 5 for any decent answers!
There are definitely many symptoms of anorexia. First off, you will feel very weak and tired, fatigue like you said, because you're not getting enough calories to have energy to do anything. As such, the person will usually lose interest in everything around them. They will often feel light-headed as if they were walking on air. Physical symptoms include habits during mealtime. It is known that an anorexic tends to divide their food into sections and eat them section by section so that it makes them feel "fuller", in a way creating an illusion to their brain. They tend to play with their food a lot and making a lot of clanking sounds with the cutlery, to give the impression that they're not eating. If really forced to eat, they will usually stick to a certain type of food, for example, vegetables.

By medical standards, a person is considered anorexic when they lose 15% of their original body weight. You cannot judge a person on whether they have eating disorders or not by just looking at them, because some people are born to have fast metabolisms, like me.

Being anorexic is definitely bad for you in many ways. Your body needs calories to function and if you're starving yourself and depriving your body of the calories it needs, it wouldn't function, basically saying that you would pass out from time to time because of the deprivation and die eventually if the problem is not solved.

In case you would like to know, starving does not necessarily cause you to lose weight. Why? Well, when you eat, your body takes some calories from the food to store and use as energy. When you start starving yourself, your body is convinced and thinks it's on a hunger strike so it immediately stores EVERYTHING as fat, or calories, the next time you eat, whether it may be a celery stick or a ..I don't know, anything. A person usually cannot starve for too long, especially when there's food around them, and might tend to binge once in a while to comfort their stomach and like I said, because your body thinks its on a hunger strike, everything will be stored as fat. Of course, in the long run you WILL lose weight, but you have to gain it first in order to lose it. Anorexia also leads to binge eating, and bulimia.

I know it's long but I had to do a report on this. I hope I helped.=]

thnx! that was a lot of help :)
