My male friend (he has a girlfriend, i dont date) and i were really close for quite some time and then he told me that he liked me (for some time now) and then a few weeks later that he loved his girlfriend, the entire situation was aweful and i tried to stay away from it best i could, but now we arent as colse...actually now we are more of aquaintences than friends and im starting to doubt what our friendship was. what do i do? how do i know we werent just close because he like me?

He said he "LIKED" you. And he said he "LOVES" his girlfriend. Now like and love are two totally different meanings. Why don't you still be close to him as just a friend and forget this whole thing. Maybe he LIKES you as a really good friend. But LOVES his girlfriend like well a girlfriend. Don't over analyze things so much.
