advice

Hey! I am trying out for the school play on Tuesday, there is 100+ people trying out (some 6th, 7th and 8th graders, I am in 8th, not that it matters) but I am scared. I had Speech and Drama for 12 weeks with the teacher that is going to be the one judging tryouts, I have performed in some stuff before (our teacher picked our group to perform in front of the school with our scence from the Jungle Book, she picked me to give my speech at Grandparents Day, and I was Lady Macbeth in a play a few years back) but I am still so nervous. Anyone have any advice on trying out, how to make my acting better, things to do or not to do in tryouts, etc? It would be much appreciated, and I rate high!

Thanks!

hey,
I had the same problem last year, I was a wreck because I was so nervous. I'm sure you will do fine but here are a few things to help. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Practice makes perfect. I'm sure u have heard that sooooo many times but it is soo true! Practice a lot especially that day. Also you could practice w/ friends. Research your character too.Example: If you are going out for a colonial person, see if u can find any movies that is in colonial times. Watch it soo many times until you can act the way they do in the movie. Okay so that day make sure you keep your head up high! Show some confidence. And try to look at the judges. When you are practicing at home, make up hand motions that you think would fit the part. Also try to memorize some lines because that shows that you are willing to memorize and that you are ready to do this! On tryout day, don't let the pressure get to you, just focus on what you are doing and saying.
good luck!
and best of wishes!
o yea tell me how everything goes!!!
