one of my best guy friends, lets just say named steve, just told me today that he tried cutting his wrist tha other night..i saw the cut, it was TINY but still it was a cut..i dunno if he is trying to get attention or if he is serious..because the cut looked like it was from a longggg time ago and he said he just recently had done it..i dunno what to say to him because no matter what, real or not, i have to support him, etc...he is like the happiest pesron i know,but i guess i dont know anymore...help (link)

Although this friend of yours may seem like he is the happiest guy around those people are sometimes the ones who are most unhappy. Cutting is a cry for help. Even if this cut is in fact old, the reason he is showing you is because he needs help and he trusts you enough to help him. He may also cut himself more recently in places you can not so easily see. Talk to him and then talk to his parents, your parents or someone who you trust and you feel can help both of you. If you feel there is no one you trust, then you two should talk together about it and how big of a problem it is and who you can turn to.
