I wake up every morning at least two hours earlier than my first class. I get up, take my dog for a walk, take a shower and get ready. You would think that all of that would wake me up enough to stay awake during my classes wouldn't you?

No luck for me. My hardest class is at 9 mondays and 9:30 wednesdays - Mammalian Anatomy and Physiology- and I am constantly falling asleep durring it. I try to take notes and sit next to the open windows, but it doesn't work. Coffee never seems to help me stay awake, and it gives me an upset stomach even if it did. Does anyone know of anything else that I could do to get myself awake and alert during this class? I don't want to just get a good grade, I actually want to learn everything and remember it all for my job in the future And this means actually paying attention in class. (link)
Well, if you are getting up 2 hours early just to be awake, you may not be getting enough sleep. Don't drink coffee. Sure, they say that caffine helps, but it just puts your system on an alert rollercoaster. After you are awake due to the coffee, you'll be tired. You may be falling asleep b/c the class is so dull and monotonous. Get enough sleep, don't party too hard, don't drink coffee. Instead, drink and eat a good breakfast an hour before class. Also, keep yourself cold. If your class is comfortable, you'll fall asleep. Instead of sitting by windows, where you could stare out of, sit by the air vents. Also, b/c it's a hard class, you have to force yourself to listen. IF you are just awake and don't know what's going on that's not going to help you. -- Good Luck--

I get up 2 hours early to get stuff done that I absolutey need to get done. I already stated that coffee does not wake me up, so you don't need to restate that. Even if I do try a bit of cappucino, buy it on the way to class, and drink it in class. I do force myself to pay attention, I write notes, but it doesn't work very well when your falling asleep mid word and can't read what you've written later on. And, sit next to a vent? The only vents here are heating vents... sitting next to a open window is the only option I have to keep myself cold. It's not a problem of being dazing off, it's a problem of my body not being able to handle staying awake this early.
