Just try and think of something that makes you feel secure. Usually people are shy because they feel they have nothing to add or that they are not up to the level of the people that surround them. The next time you find yourself in that position, try focusing on something that's not so perfect on the person. Find something that makes you feel better about something you have, for instance, " Boy, his nose is alot worse than mine" and that will bring them down to a level that will make you feel a lot more comfortable with yourself, and feel more at ease about sharing yourself.
