VERY URGENT!!!!! SIMPLE STATS....cant do it. PLEASE HELP

Posted Saturday November 14 2015, 1:05 pm

I am creating a faux research proposal for a class and my stats background is very limited.

The study I am creating has to do with parental empathy and child's conduct.

Parental empathy is measured by coding a parent interview and dichotomizes empathy as either high empathy or low empathy.

Conduct is measured by a teacher questionnaire and is again dichotomized, high conduct problems with low conduct problems.

What statistical test should I use to compare these two dichotomized variables?

School Project

Posted Thursday November 12 2015, 1:24 am

So at school we are doing a project and the person I am paired up with is pretty quiet, and when I try to talk to him about the project, he just talks in a way which makes me feel dumb, he doesn't show much interest. He is really smart and he is pretty much doing all the work so far, I am trying to communicate, asking him what he has done since he hasn't shared his work with me. I am trying to communicate but he keeps doing work without telling me and then he would say "no I've already done that". This is all fine that he is like that, I just don't know how to communicate with him more and make him feel more comfortable working with me. I don't think we'd have anything to talk about, he's more into politics. Any tips? Thanks!

super shy

Posted Friday November 6 2015, 10:55 pm

So I asked a previous question about being nervous about a presentation for a specific class.
It's not just this class that makes me nervous. Anytime I have to present anything, even if its just to a small group, I get anxious. I had one class that was all people I knew well and got along with, and even there I got anxious when I had to present. When teachers ask me to give answers in class, I can feel my face go hot and my voice diminish to almost nothing. If the teacher asks me to speak louder, my voice kind of cracks and doesn't want to adjust in volume.
Is there anything I can do about this? My mom doesn't really seem to think its a big deal, and its not something I can really bring up with my dad, just due to the nature o...

Presentation anxiety

Posted Thursday November 5 2015, 9:11 pm

So I have to do a presentation in my Grade 12 Chemistry course, and the teacher says a significant part of our mark will be based on preparedness and engaging-ness of presentation. Basically, what he meant is that I have to be really excited and happy up there, and be able to answer pretty much any question people ask me.

The problem is, I am super shy. When I get up there my voice goes really quiet, and no matter how prepared I am, I stutter and can't seem to remember what I was all going to say. This is going to make me look like I'm not prepared, no matter how hard I try.
Also, I am presenting with people who have naturally loud voices and exciting personalities, which will contrast me and make me seem even less pr...

My teacher spanked me!? (today)

Posted Tuesday October 20 2015, 4:14 pm

Well, I am not so sure if he 'spanked' or 'smacked' my buttocks but he did something like that. He called me over to his desk which is in class, I was in trouble for something I didn't write. He told me to stand closer to him and when I did he started smacking/spanking my butt as punishment! I was standing, he didn't tell me to bend over and I still had my skirt on but he used his bare hands to do it. He did it a few times but it didn't hurt. I still wanted to cry though because I was so embarrassed!! Some of my classmates were laughing and others were saying its not right but my teacher told them that its 'OK' if its punishment!
Is it really OK if its punishment? Are male teachers allowed to do that to female students? I didn't tell...

Are students enrolled year-round at Gatton Academy?

Posted Tuesday October 13 2015, 5:19 pm

I'm seriously considering attending Gatton Academy (through Western Kentucky University) but need to know- do students stay at the school year round? Are they enrolled all year, or do they return home in summer? I haven't found information answering this question, but it's really imperative I know.

Older kids had to walk around the basketball court during recess?

Posted Monday September 28 2015, 2:05 am

This may sound strange, but this usually did not happen in this school. Years ago, I went to an elementary school, and this school was ran by an amazing principal and some of the greatest memories I've had was when he was principal.

Unfortunately, he retired and the new principal came in the beginning of my last year of elementary school. She changed everything (the appearance inside, the playground sets, etc.) But the strange thing about the one rule she enforced was that the older kids had to walk around the basketball court during recess. Not part of recess, but the whole recess. Every day for the whole year. And it wasn't all kids, it was just the older ones. Sixth graders and possibly fifth graders. I'm not sure what gr...

Why are preps always bullying people?

Posted Thursday September 24 2015, 5:59 pm

I'm in 7th grade they always call me and my friends "stupid emo fags" and make cutting gestures whenever we walk by them. There was this one prep with some friends (well she's not a prep in the sense she's unpopular but dresses like a prep) and said, "does it hurt?" I thought she meant I was wearing bracelets high up my arm, but I realised since a bunch of kids were laughing she meant cutting. And when I was walking with a male friend and someone asked if he was homosexual and I said,"just because he wears make up doesn't mean he's homosexual -_-" and then they started making random comments about our "fag music", laughed about what we were wearing and walked away. These people are the same people who...

I don't understand my homework.

Posted Sunday September 20 2015, 2:35 pm

I'm not going to ask for answers or anything, it's just that I have a tendency to leave homework till the last minute and it happened again today. I have a lab report for science due tomorrow. I really don't understand what to do for the questions, they don't specify how to answer. I also forgot to take notes while doing the science experiment so that part is already incomplete. I asked my friends if they understood the questions but none of them have the same teacher as me and they don't have to do the report. My teacher is very strict and I don't want to email her asking for help; she probably wouldn't give me any anyways. What can I do?

School Project on Madonna

Posted Tuesday September 15 2015, 12:07 am

Hi, I have a project due tomorrow and something I have to write about is Madonna's music style, I really don't know what it is and whenever I search it up it comes up as the genre of her music, not the style.

I'm a teenager stressing about my career

Posted Sunday August 16 2015, 9:40 am

Hey, there. I'm a 15 year old freshman in high school and I'm looking for a bit of advice. These days, college is pushed into us so early. They had me picking potential colleges and calculating the cost of rooming and food and tuition along with how to do my finances and pay off student loans when I was in 8th grade (13). They had us pick potential jobs and also gave us the average annual incomes for those jobs. As you can imagine, that all stressed me out a lot seeing as I was still in middle school. College was, and still is, a foreign concept to me. Anyway, my stress about it has gotten worse since last week I was talking to my aunt about potential careers. I told her that Id really like to go to art school and be an illustrator or learn...

Am I a procrastinator?

Posted Wednesday June 17 2015, 4:14 pm

Hi! I am girl and I think I am a procrastinator.
I always do my school stuff on the last minute! I always do my homework early in the morning while in class. I also do my assignments the night before and I don't study at home. I always do useless stuff like surfing the web, watching TV or listen to music instead of doing my assignments and homework.
I don't know why but I can't seem to stop this. Right now as I am typing this I have this assignment that is due tomorrow but I didn't even start writing it.
Am I a procrastinator?
Btw this started last year.

Don't know how to feel

Posted Thursday May 21 2015, 9:43 pm

My dad and brother are always calling me fat. I got used to them calling me fat tho. But now at school most friends call me fat and always say I'm really heavy. When they call me fat I laugh it off and smile like it doesn't hurt but it really does. I'm 14 and weigh 118 lbs. I never saw my self as fat. My mom is saying I'm getting fatter. My jeans are getting tighter and tighter. And I feel like the more people call me fat the more I eat. I spend more than half an hour staring at myself everyday. And I feel like I'm getting bigger and bigger. I try to lose weight but I can't and that makes me feel worse. I don't know if I should let their opinions influence me.

synethesia and math

Posted Monday April 27 2015, 9:26 pm

I am pretty bad at math, and I don't have the reason most people are bad at it. I have synethesia (Google it if you don't know what it is) whenever I do problems it seems like I'm in a swarm of colors and it makes it hard to focus on the problem. When we do problems like 1.278•34.9000 I end up swimming in red, orange, hot pink, dark purple, emerald green, sky blue, orange, and lots of silver. It's so annoying! I like having synethesia, but not during math. It also makes it hard to remember stuff because the math teacher talks, and the numbers all translate to colors, for a while, then fades away, and of I wanna remember what he said I need to translate all the colors back to numbers, and figure out if they were single digit or if they combi...
