Should I rush for a new sorority when I had a bad experience last time? Posted Wednesday September 28 2016, 10:50 am
Hello, about a week and a half ago I participated in sorority recruitment (aka rush) and I went in positive that I would get a bid.
I don't mean to boast, but I'm an honors student, I dress nice, from what people have told me I'm pretty and cute, I volunteer all the time, participate in clubs and I love meeting new friends and being social.
Well by the end of recruitment I thought I had great conversations and potential with 3/6 of the sororities. I was so happy and loved every party. Then I was dropped by 2 of the sororities by bid day and only offered a bid by the group I promised myself I wouldn't join.
I felt very betrayed because the girls all acted like they really liked me. They would eve...

Can't talk in class Posted Monday September 19 2016, 11:15 pm
I don't know if this is the right category, but I am in university. I go to a small private university and a bunch of my classes have about 10 or so people in them.
Because of the small class size, there is a lot of professor-student interaction and questions and things.
I usually know the answer when the professor asks a question, or at least have a reasonable guess, but I never put my hand up. I hate speaking in a group of people.
Almost every time the prof calls on me, I start talking but the first few syllables are completely inaudible. I hate it, and I wish it wouldn't happen because I would like to be able to answer questions. I just end up looking stupid, especially in my French course wh...

Choosing my Master's Degree Posted Tuesday September 13 2016, 3:52 pm
Good afternoon everyone,
I am an international student in the U.S., and I have been recently admitted into two programs which are the MA in TESOL in American University in Washington, DC, and the MA in Liberal Arts in Georgetown University. However, since I am fascinated by both programs and universities, I have not been able to decide which college I need to attend; therefore, I would like to ask you in order to help me in my dilemma. I need to mention that both programs are going to be held in Washington, DC, and they have nearly the same tuition as well as the expected time to graduate, so my concern is which degree will be beneficial for me, either personally or professionally, in the future, particularly my bachelor's de...

Getting a SHOCKER. Low grades despite being bright Posted Wednesday July 13 2016, 2:34 pm
My Third Year results were out some days ago.I am doing 4 year Computer Science course. It came much as a shock because i ended up scoring a meagre 76%.. my friends scored like heavily with everyone in my group above 90. I am not jealous of their results. Infact i am happy they scored so they can get a job. I am planning on my Masters so wont be taking a job. I even helped a friend in maths in a position where if she failed she would have to repeat an entire year. I knew my efforts were there. And ironically i taught n helped these guys out. Its really kinda depressing. Help needed

Should I transfer colleges? Posted Friday June 17 2016, 12:04 pm
I've only been at my current college one semester. I moved here because the school looked beautiful and it was in a city that I thought would have lots of job opportunities. I still think my school is very pretty and also has yummy restaurants on campus, lots of fun places off campus, and up to date technology but I'm having quite a few other issues here.
1. I can't find a decent job here. I have a great resume and previous experience, but still barely anybody is hiring and the jobs get snapped up so fast or won't work with my school schedule.
2. My campus is noisy and I can't concentrate on studying. The school is doing construction that won't end until 2018 and it's so loud I even have trouble sleeping and do...

Should I change my major? Posted Wednesday May 25 2016, 9:47 am
I'm a 1st semester sophomore in college. I'm currently a Government and World Affairs major, but I no longer think I will be able to get a job in that field. There are too many people in my major and we're all competing over the same jobs which there are realistically, very few of in America.
I'm thinking about changing my major to International Business with a minor or double major in Cyber Security.
Does this sound like a good choice?

Double Major - Too Late? Posted Tuesday April 19 2016, 5:19 pm
I'm 19 years old going on 20 this year and a sophomore, will be junior next year which means I'm on my 2nd-3rd year of college. I'm currently an English major but haven't declared concentration on either programs from my college; Literature or Linguistics. I've been thinking for a few months now of changing majors. However I like both the Biology and Geology programs a lot. I have to take Precalculus I and II plus Chem I and II if I go for Geology, or the same maths with BIOL I and II if I want Biology. I thought maybe I could change to Biology and then do a double major in Geology but as I'm already going for my third year I'm not sure its plausible to finish in 4-6 years (6 years is the limit I put to myself in my BA/BS). Should I go for ...

How do I endure? Posted Tuesday April 12 2016, 4:46 pm
Hi, I am a female, 18-19,forgive me if my English is bad, I am from Namibia, Africa . I just graduated from highschool a few months ago now I am in a private institution studying Graphic Design. The thing is I am only studying it because my parents want me to. I tried telling them I wanted to study something else but they wouldnt listen to me . I tried telling them that I instead wanted to study Make Up Artistry for a while but they fliped their crap instead since its less proffessional. I eventually submitted . I know my parents want the best for me and love me and want me to be successful but I want to at least study something that I am passionate about. I decided to put my feelings aside and just complete my three year course but I am 'm...

Is A Debt Worth College? Posted Tuesday April 12 2016, 11:59 am
F/19. I'm a sophomore going to my junior year in college next year and am considering a transfer to UMaine. Thankfully I've gotten a letter offering enough money to allow me to study there. I'm currently an English major but was thinking about pursuing a major in science instead, possibly Earth, Marine, or Animal Science. However, out of the money offered more than half of it would be in loans, therefore lets say that I stayed two years (since I am a transfer), I would end up with $60,000+ on loans. On the worst case me being an Arts major could mean I'd need an additional year to finish, which would mean near a six figure number. Yikes. I'm just not sure if its worth it. I'm not afraid of having to pay afterwards but I also would like to d...

Help?! I'm extremely nervous about moving off to college? Posted Sunday January 10 2016, 2:47 am
I know this is going to sound silly, but I'm very worried about moving off to college.
First off, I'm 21 so I already feel like I'm really old and I'm worried about being in courses with freshmen/sophomores who are going to be 18 and 19. Luckily, I do look much younger than I am (I could pass for 15, so hopefully this means if I don't say anything about my age that I can fit in right???
I graduated from HS with honors when I was 17, but was already working as a manager by 18 and then met my (now ex) significant other who tied my life up for a few years. I actually appreciate this because it gave me insight to what career I truly wanted to go into and if I had gone to college right after HS, I would have gone f...

One of my roommates gets their period all over the bathroom... Posted Friday January 8 2016, 10:05 pm
I live with three random roommates. They are nice girls and we get along well, but at least one of them has been consistently getting their period all over the bathroom, and not just on the toilet but on the floor, bathmat, etc. It is hard to say for sure who is responsible for the issue because we kind of get our periods around the same time. I just know that it isn't me, because I meticulously check the toilet area after changing my tampon/pad.
This started happening within the first month of us moving in. I waited a while and then said something to the effect of; "Hey guys, there's been period blood on the toilet seat for a few days now. I'm very squeamish about blood and would prefer not to touch it because it isn't ...

Can I realistically afford my college's tuition if I also work? Posted Friday January 1 2016, 9:54 pm
My college's tuition (including dorm) is going to be about 18k a year. I also have to pay a car payment of $300 a month and insurance of $120. So if I'm rounding up my expenses would be around 23.5k a year not including gas and some food expenses though I'm on a meal plan for 7 meals a week so I wouldn't have to cook that much as I usually only eat twice a day.
If I work somewhere between part-time and full-time can I afford my college's tuition?
This would be in the state of Florida...

Microsoft Posted Thursday December 31 2015, 12:45 pm
I had microsoft word, excel and powerpoint on my computer and my hard drive failed so I had to get my computer factory reset and it deleted all of my microsoft applications but I need them again for my last semester of school starting back up and I'm not paying for them when I already did that once. So, I'm asking if there is any way I could redownload these applications without having to pay because I already have an account set up through my school? Thanks!
I have a macbook pro, if that helps.

Is changing my college major a good move? Posted Tuesday December 8 2015, 12:04 am
Long story short, the town I reside in is very small and suburban, there are two mediocre colleges (one private and one community), minimal job prospects and just very little opportunity for growth or career success. I've been attending the private college for 8 months for an Associates in Nursing because when I started I couldn't relocate due to a relationship which I am out of now.
I'm an honors student and I've done very well with my nursing classes, but I feel like I was manipulated as the school seemed to glamorize the nursing field, showing nurses (in their info session) with big smiles on their faces casually chatting with happy, social and clean patients as they adjusted their pillows or gave the medication. They pr...

Help! I need to choose between two colleges? Posted Monday November 23 2015, 10:56 pm
I'm choosing between two different colleges and can't make up my mind.
My heart was set on one college until this past weekend when I actually went to visit it. Online the college looked beautiful and bragged about their many awards, but when I got there it seemed super outdated and kind of dirty. I didn't think the campus was pretty at all, but then again I didn't get to see all of it or any of the dorms. The school has over 80 clubs, greek life, greek housing, sports teams and other events, which is really important to me. The city it's in is kind of boring though with no good shopping and not many restaurants or things to do.
The second college is gorgeous and updated with nice dorms and is in one of my favorite ci...

Paleontologist vs Archaeologist Posted Saturday November 21 2015, 12:44 am
Hello. I've just got a little inquiry. Can someone work as both a paleontologist and archaeologist. I was thinking about doing a double major in Geology and Anthropology, hoping to go from there into two MS in Paleontology and Archaeology. I know this means a LOT of work but I'm willing to go by without the extra sleep. I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows if this could maybe be a possibility.

How to overcome this depressing feeling Posted Friday November 20 2015, 12:43 pm
Hi! School is starting again and I really feel depressed. I'm in my 2nd year of taking up Secondary Education Major in English but this semester I shifted my course to Psychology. So 2 weeks from now and school is starting again. Everything I do is awkward and being in a new environment again is making me feel sick. I just don't know what to do. I can't eat nor sleep. I don't know if i did the right decision on shifting my course. These past few days I've been really depressed. I'm taking some sleeping medicine just to forget it all. I feel pressured and i can't talk it out with my family or anyone because i know that they will take it as me, being weird or something. Please help me. I want this disgusting feeling that's creeping out on me.
