Discarded by my Parents Posted Tuesday October 14 2008, 3:39 pm
TO be honest, I guess the problem is more my Mother than anyone else.
I moved out of my parents house to live with my boyfriend three years ago. In those three years, my parents (who live three miles away) have been to visit us in our home a whole two times. My sister only ever contacts me when she needs me to do something for her and I never get any phone calls from ANY of them!
My Mum lost her Father at Xmas last year and her health isn't great but she makes NO effort at all to deal with any of these issues, despite a huge amount of support from everyone around her. But in all this, she has forgotten I exist for any reason but for her. I phoned her every day but stopped to see if she would ever call me. It'...

My mom having sex Posted Monday October 13 2008, 10:09 pm
f/15
Okay, so I come from a Muslim family.
We believe that having sex is only allowed after marriage.
My mother and father have been divorced for about 8 years now, since I was around 7.
None of them have gotten remarried.
However, my mom has had this so called "boyfriend" for some time now, maybe 2 years.
He is a lot younger than her, by about 8 years. He's 37.
I don't really like him. There have been a few incidents where my mom was fighting with him and was crying because she believed he was cheating on her.
My mother has many self esteem issues, she thinks she is fat and ugly, etc, which makes it only more likely that she think he is cheating on her.
If you ask me,...

Huge Problem Posted Sunday October 12 2008, 10:02 pm
My brother is 18 years old and works at the same place as i do. (I'm 16). Long story, very short, he and his friends easily steal money. My bosses have no clue, have no cameras, and are not very on the ball. I'm talking grand theft. He's stolen approximately 5,000 dollars I'd say. It's extremely horrible. I've SEEN him steal some money, and I've heard from a couple of his friends that he confides in tell me that he does this. My brother is basically a straight A, seemingly nice kid, and my parents are too stupid to piece together that he's a thief. He bought half of a 15, 000 dollar car, and my parents thought nothing of it. They were pleased with his "savings and hard work ethic". I work the same damn job as he does and I've save...

Financial Problems Posted Sunday October 12 2008, 10:53 am
As everyone knows our economy is going down the drain and neither candidates proposed an actual "I'm going to do this to fix this" plan.
In addition my dad's company is in high debt and about to close permanently. In addition to that, there is going to be a mass layoff on Oct. 17th. Why don't we just throw in the facts that my sister is going around for Med school interviews (which costs money since they're all out of state), I still have to go to college, my mom probably can't get a good job (didn't have a chance to go to college and has to pick me up by 4PM everyday after school), I can't drive, I can't work (I have activities everyday after school that I can't get out of). As you can see, we're all incredibly st...

Would the remark my mom made bother you Posted Saturday October 11 2008, 10:39 pm
Would the remark my mom made bother you?: I (age 53) cleaned out my closet and dresser drawers and had 14 bags of clothing to give away. However, yesterday I decided to go thru the bags to make sure that I did not give away anything accidentally. I found 10 items that I accidentally put in the bags so I took them out and put them in my drawers and closets. I was home alone yesterday. Today before I was going to load the bags into the car and take them to the clothing drop my mom (age 82) saw me going thru the bags.
Mom: “What are you doing?”
ME: “I am going thru the bags to make sure I did not get rid of anything accidentally”
Mom: Oh why are you looking there is nothing worthwhile there”
ME:...

i just want my mom to be proud of me for once! Posted Friday October 10 2008, 1:13 am
im 28 years old and i live with my parents due to being unemployed, but i have been looking for a new job for almost a year now. problem is if i do something good my mom never says shes proud of me. she likes to go on and on about how good my 21 year old brother is doing because he has a good paying job, a family, and has his own house. but if i try to bring anything up about my brother my mom accuses me of being jeolous which makes me mad because im not. i would just like to be successful like him because i admire him.i feel like i will not be successful because i have a learning disability that makes it hard to advance in my life. is their anyway to make my mom proud of me too. i feel like the black sheep of my family. thanks for answering my question

'so called friend' and family Posted Friday October 10 2008, 12:59 am
Hey there, im 16f. I really am starting to think that everyone in my family is starting to take me for granted and just, not appreciate me. I am the middle child, that may be part of it, but. I live with my mom, my older bro 17, and my younger sis 10. A few examples are, when i do dishes, no body notices because my bro dirties them all up about ten minutes later, when i spend time with my family they treat me as if im an outsider.
- I had this really good friend that dumped me for my bro and is currently sleeping with him. My mom treats her as a replacement for me. Thats how i feel since my mom always invites her over even though i despise this girl now (she comes over enough as it is to see my brother), has 'private' convos abou...

Should I move out? Posted Wednesday October 8 2008, 12:34 am
I absolutely love my father, I really do, and he's a great dad and all but... I don't want to live with him any more. He's a slob, he's always moody and he uses his depression as an excuse. He also has a lot of debt and I'm sick of having his weights on my shoulders all the time, you know?
My brother has offered me that if I want to, I can rent a room of his house. I'm thinking of taking this up and possibly bringing a friend with me so it'd be less rent for me to pay 'cause we'd be splitting it. He's a reliable guy, too.
Does this seem like a bad idea? I'm 15 and a half, I'm paid $800 a month from my job, I plan on staying in school and my brother lives close to the school.
I'm just afraid my dad will get upset and stop talking to me.

the pressure of all of this is just getting to me Posted Monday October 6 2008, 10:30 pm
I am a sophomore girl in one of the most elite high schools in the nation. Call me shallow but i am one of the "in" crowd too. im not cpnceited, but i will admit a great deal of my friends are. I'm always feeling pressured by what everyone expects of me to be. Since i am one of the more well known kids literally im supposed to be a size 0, have had sex a bajillion times, never to lose my cool, and basically just be perfect. Here's the main issues: My natural body is a size 6, i know not huge but not a 0, so i have forced myself to throw up only a few times. I've never made it past first base, though i've been there MANY times. My family is so messed up: beyond normal dysfunction. My brother is gay and proud, and he got caught at t...

Cousin refusing to listen to family about her future Posted Monday October 6 2008, 10:40 am
Hi there,
For some time now, my cousin (who lives in Thailand with her boyfriend) has been struggling to find a job/career which suits her. She's the outdoor type, not the desk type; the kind of person who likes a job which requires her to travel all over the world, but doesn't like to be told what to do or what she's doing wrong.
She's never had any proper support from her mother or father since she first got out of school, so she was kinda left on her own. When she went looking for a course, she was desperate to take the first one which would accept her without really looking into it and wasted a year doing something which she didn't really want to do. And since then, she's been in Thailand doing what she ...

Midlife Crisis Posted Saturday October 4 2008, 8:45 pm
I think my dad's going through a midlife crisis. He's been way more withdrawn than he usually is, like he'll just go into his room and watch old war movies. He's been complaining a lot about his job, which I'd always thought he loved but I guess it's stressing him out a lot right now. He'll tell me things about our financial situation and intense stories from his early days in the military. Stuff that I wasn't aware of and while I'd like to listen and hear him out when he needs me, I'm not sure if I can handle all this at once.
I feel like I should talk to my dad about how he's been feeling or just do something about it because it makes me sad to see him sad. But I don't know what to say that would be remotely helpful. I don't know w...
