I don't know how to clean.

Posted Saturday October 25 2003, 8:14 pm

I don't know how to clean. Or budget but that's not the point. my room has gotten really dirty and I want to clean it so I can use it to practice for auditions, do homework, etc and not have to throw all my junk off my bed every night.
Does anyone have some cleaning tips, or something? Or can tell me how to clean?

how come...

Posted Saturday October 25 2003, 4:48 pm

A friend of mine is getting married in a few months, and all she talks about is her freaking wedding. She's so annoying I just want to smack her. Some of our other friends feel the same way, others are all into this wanting to help plan and decorate and buy pretty white crap that I can't get excited about at all, because I'm just not a pretty white crap kinda girl.

She used to be so cool and normal, we'd talk about what was going on in the world, fun weekend activities, etc. Now she's wedding 24/7. What's wrong with her? How do I shake her out of cinderella land and get my friend back?

Confused

Posted Saturday October 25 2003, 12:36 am

This probably sounds really dumb but oh well. I have dance lessons three times a week(and this is active dance with jumping, not just walking around and moving arms or swaying on the spot) and I have two soccer practices a week and a game. I also have gym class twice a week for an hour and I try my best unlike some people. I walk 3k per day to school and back and according to my friend's mom 'eat like a bird' which I don't think I do. I'm 13 and weigh 110 pounds. I have friends that are my height and weigh about 90 pounds. Their excercise is gym class. That's it. I know for a fact they don't diet and aren't anorexic or bulimic. They eat more than me.

I also know a girl in my dance class who does everything I do plus lacross...

Sister/Sister/Friend Competition

Posted Friday October 24 2003, 7:40 pm

Okay. Here's the story. First I'll introduce the people that are involved or I will lose you. Rose is our age but went to a private school about an hour away this year. Another girl, Emily is still going to this school. Her sister Julianne just started going to our school and likes Billy. Last year, Billy liked Rose and found out that he liked her too. They didn't go on any dates or anything and Rose hasn't seen him since the end of the school year. Now, Billy likes Emily. Rose still thinks he likes her. Billy was going to ask Emily to the school dance last week but he didn't get the nerve to. For the first slow dance, he danced with Julianne. After Julianne, he danced all the dances wth Emily. Now Julianne is really jealous and not speakin...

opening minds to not eating meat

Posted Friday October 24 2003, 7:16 pm

I'm not a full-on vegetarian, but I try not to eat a whole lot of meat. Frankly I just don't think it's healthy, and I don't like depending on it. The problem is that everyone around me... my family, my boyfriend, etc. is of the opinion that unless you're poor or sick, you must consume meat at every meal or it's just not a meal. When I offer to cook black bean casserole or vegi pizzas, they're just like, "that's great... and what else?"

How do I get them out of this mindset that vegetables aren't "real food"?

i moved

Posted Friday October 24 2003, 8:05 am

I moved away from to go to college, but most of my friends stayed in our hometown to either take community college courses or just slack off and not do much of anything. Now it seems like every weekend they guilt me about not coming home. I can come home some weekends, yeah, but honestly I'm making some new friends here that I like to party with too and don't really want to go home more than once a month. My high school friends are just like, "But it's so-and-so's annual such-and-such party! You've never missed this! are you too good for us now or something?"

Am I a bad person for neglecting my old friends? Should I make more of an effort to go home and salvage these relationships? I want to stay friends, but sometimes I wish phonecalls were enough.

the baking reputation

Posted Thursday October 23 2003, 7:39 pm

I'm a girl, and I kinda like to bake stuff, because hey, it means I get desert. My question is this: I work with all guys. If I bake cookies or something and bring them into work, are the guys going to stop feeling like I'm "one of them" and start seeing me as this betty crocker homemaker type? We're all pretty laid back now, on the same level and everything, I don't want it to get weird.

mysterious house plant

Posted Thursday October 23 2003, 7:36 pm

So I have this plant. I can't identify it, trust me I've tried, but I know it's common... big green waxy leaves, one flower on a long stem that's white with one petal and this white spiny thing in the middle? But that's not my question... the problem is that this plant is just perpetually dying, it a really awful and depressing way. I water it almost every day, I repotted it, it's by a window where it gets a decent amount of light I think, but 80% of the time it's just wilted and sick looking. I don't know what to do. It could be a nice plant, I feel really bad that it's so crappy looking.

Seeks liberal technical school

Posted Thursday October 23 2003, 4:56 pm

Being of a very scientific bent, I'd like to go to college at a technical school. However, every one of these school I read about seems very traditional, with sororities, fraternities, and lots of drinking. They never talk about how liberal the student body is or how much activism there is on campus. Do you know of any quirky, liberal technical schools with character, preferably somewhere in or around the northeast?

sex toy parties?

Posted Wednesday October 22 2003, 11:01 pm

I heard this ad on the radio for these parties... they're like tupperware parties, where women get together and buy stuff... only we're buying sex toys instead. Since I've got all these boring married coworker gals who are always inviting me to their make-up parties and kitchen selling things, I was thinking of setting up a sex toy party.

I'm totally serious.

Would this be a bad thing to do with co-workers? What exactly is a sex toy party? If I call the shop that's offering this thing will I get suckered into some awful deal my friends will never forgive me for?

Next musical purchase

Posted Wednesday October 22 2003, 10:59 pm

So, I'm a drummer, and I need some new equipment. Should I go for a new hi-hat stand, crash, ride, or double bass petal? The hi-hat stand is probably the most needed, the ride would round out the sound, the crash would make me even louder than I already am, and the double bass would just r0x0rz. So, if you were in my fuzzy blue slippers, which should I (or you I guess) get?

health care system choice

Posted Wednesday October 22 2003, 7:10 pm

I just got a new job and the health care system is weird. I can choose to either pay $30 a month or $15 a month. If I pay $30 a month, the company pays for all my health care over $1600, if I spend more than that in the year. If I pay $15 a month, the company doesn't start paying until after $2800. I'm healthy and don't think I'll need more than $1600 for the year, so I think I might go with the cheap plan and save on my monthly payments. But I'll be screwed if something happens to me, like I fall off a bridge and need $4000 surgery, because I'll have to spend $2800 total instead of $1600. What would you do?

History-hotseating

I have to think of questions to ask 'Camillo Cavour' (Italy 1815+) and radicals from Britain in the 1800's. Henry 'orator' Hunt in particular.

Has anyone got any ideas?
