I had an affair at work, and he broke it off and the office forced me out.

Posted Tuesday October 23 2012, 11:39 pm

I had an affair with a male colleague and he broke it off.

I found out recently that he tried to resign from his job to get away from me, but our employer thought he was too valuable to the business.
When he was asked why he wanted to leave, he confessed that he had had an affair with me, and he no longer wanted anything to do with me.

The employer talked with a lawyer, and reduced my hours so that I was never on the premises at the same time as him.

I was obviously less valued that he was.

I didn't realize this at the time, and continued with my reduced hours until an annual appraisal, where I was basically told I was crap at what I did, and I didn't do a whole lot.

Being shortlisted for an interview

Posted Saturday September 22 2012, 5:14 am

Hi,

I recently applied for a job, but was unsuccessful after the interview, because "the competition was very fierce".

However, there were 550 applicants, and I was shortlisted for an interview along with 24 other people.

When applying for similar positions, should I state this? Because it is sort of impressive, but would the prospective employer wonder why I didn't get the job, and put them off?

So in short, should I state that I was shortlisted for interview and didn't get the job?

Thanks

Can I still get this job with this degree?

Hello, I'm studying in England and doing Psychology and Criminology. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life but I knew I loved Psychology and I thought Criminology would be interesting and good to add to it.

Anyway, in the first year we had a counselling class and I rather enjoyed it, but now I don't do any counselling classes, just basic Psychology and the foundations to Criminology. I was planning on being a therapist, getting a Masters in Psychology etc etc, but now I see I don't have a counselling class any more, is that going to cause me a problem?

I think I can swap over easily enough because the first year didn't count for anything apprently, and since Psychology is my core subject they d...

Job Interview

Posted Thursday August 23 2012, 2:00 pm

Hello,

I just had the biggest job interview of my life. I would just like some of your feedback on some things I remember:

1. I made some jokes. Like, when they asked my biggest weakness, I said "The temptation is to say that I work just too hard!" and they both laughed and said "We hate them answers!". I also replied "getting the coffee" when asked what task I would least enjoy. I wasn't trying to be funny, I was just nervous!

2. I kept noticing that they kept smiling at each other. I don't know if it was because they thought I was impressive, or because I was rambling on. When I'm nervous, I ramble!

3. My interview was supposed to start at 12, but d...

Internship Application

Posted Wednesday July 25 2012, 5:46 am

Hello, 20/m

I'm applying for an internship with a charity: they then put you with a leading politician for 9 months. It's great, because I've always wanted to do this, but a lack of money has always prevented me from doing so. This is paid, and so I'm trying to make my application perfect.

The problem is, how easily should I tell the truth? During my school years, I did the bare minimum to keep me going. I was literaly a straight B student. I got 1 A, and that was because my teacher pushed me. Even in that subject, I was 7 marks away from an A+. I asked my teacher, "Should I re-do it, and try and get the higher grade?" he replied "I don't care: You've gotten higher than the C you were predicted,...

Okay. So here's the deal. I'm 18 & I've applied to AT LEAST 30 jobs in the last month & no one has called or even sent an email. Is this normal? Should I call & ask if they've even considered my employment or reviewed my application or if they are still hiring for the position? Would I seem needy? HELP please. Thanks. -Ana

How to get a business job with an airline company

Posted Monday June 18 2012, 5:24 am

I graduated with a degree in business last year and I am very interested to start a career in the aviation industry. Right now I am teaching English overseas but currently I'm searching for a business related position with an airline company. I know there are many engineering and flight attendant jobs available but I'm finding it very difficult to find business related positions in airline companies.

Ideally I want to find a position related to sales or marketing. I have always loved planes so working for an airline company would be my dream job! I have applied online for some positions with airline companies but it seems to be a lost cause as there are so many applicants and many of the positions require experience. I'm not...

Jobs Online: Require Writing

Posted Sunday June 17 2012, 7:09 pm

Hello! I am going to be eighteen in about a week and I was wondering if there are any online jobs that require writing and working at home. I've tried looking for some myself, but most of them are fake or require that I pay them money-- which I find rather stupid. I need money with all the things coming up for college and trips. So if you know any reliable sites in which they offer online jobs, some that maybe require writing or even taking surveys, is fine by me! Or maybe help me get started on searching? Please and thank you!
