i've been training for cross country for my school and one day ill be able to run like 3 miles with no problem and then the next day i wont even get half a mile before cramping like mad which then i have to stop. like today. i had to quit running and totally sit so i would feel better. i cramp in my sides. both. any ideas on what to do to stop me from cramping. would it help if i didnt eat before i ran? (link)
I used to always get cramps during a race, but the trick is to concentrate on ure bretahing. The cramps are muscle spasms that happen because ure lungs arent in sink with something on ure side. So just make up a breathing pattern, and make thats ure main focus when you run.

Ok I'm going into Highschool and the highschool im going into says that if you do a sport than you don't have to take gym. So I have the choice of track. And i really want to start running on track but im afraid of what rumors i heard like "running is bad for dancers ( i take dance every week. and i've been dancing like forever and i don't want to give it up.)

Are those rumors true?
Is running really bad for dancers? (link)
There isn't anything better that u could possibly do, to keep in good shape then running

ok. so, school started for us thursday, august 10. my classes are great, and i have atleast one friend in each class. in p.e., i have several friends, but atleast half of them are really good runners. every year, we do this fitness thing where we have to do sit-ups, stretching, etc. we also have to do a mile run. this bothers me a lot, because i'm not really a good runner, and i feel bad because my friends are really athletic, and i wanna atleast be behind them in the mile run, not somewhere near the end. i know i can focus myself to not stopping and stuff, and that i can probably take the pain, but i have troubles with the breathing. how are you supposed to breathe while running so you won't get too tired or any of that stuff? (link)
ok there isnt any kind of breathing tecnique that is magically going to make you run faster. What u have to do is run. Every day, try to do 15 mins. It is only a mile race, and you should easily be able to get in good enough shape to run one, in about 2-3 weeks. But, as for breathing, try to concentrate on on syncronized brething. Breath in through ure nose and out ure mouth.

I love to fight, I love the adreniline rush and the pain thrills me, so heres the deal, Onn my hockey team we do these things called cage boxing matches which is basicly just boxing. The thing is, everyone on my team is pretty much afraid to face me. I even agreed to one where the kid could use a knife but he wussed out. so any ideas on how i can convince people to face me? (link)
i helmet box all the time and i suggest u stop because 3 of my team mates broke their arms last yr. Why don't u start boxing or something. Or maybe a psycologist haha

I am in cross country and we have been running 4 days now. I do stretch my legs very well. But, in my lower stomach all 4 days i have a HORRIBLE stomach cramp i can't control. Is there any certain stretches i can do to prevent this?? or just something to help !!! Thanks in advance

this happens to everone who runs and it is really easy to stop. It is actually a muscle spasm because ure lung isn't in sync with soemthing in ure stomach. So, when u get one slow down and concentrate on ure breathing. Take deep consistant breaths and it will go away.

What is a good mile time for a freshman at a 1A Texas school. I run a 5:45 mile, but have never run anything besides short distance competitively. I run a 59 or 60 second 400m. I just want to know how those compare to what my competition will be. (link)
You should be pretty good. 5:45 is a little higher then the average freshman. You should be aiming for a 20 5k and try to bring ure mile down to about a 5:30. If You can do that you will have a solid freshman year.
