I am so confused with math. We're doing addition and subtraction of positive and negative integers. Can anyone please answer the following problems and explain how you got that answer? I rate high!
-20 - (-10) =
-35 - 16 =
There's also a sort of word problem one too. Tell me what the math sentence would be and the sum.
Start at -6. Face the negative direction. Move backward 2 units.
Please help! (link)

ok it is simple... -20 - (-10) when you are subtracting and you have a negative number you make it addition and you change the second number to the opposite example:
5 - 6 = 5 + (-6) = -1 and on adding you actually subtract from the lrger number and take the sign of the larger.
on word problems in algebra what you have to do first is find out what they want.
the second step is to turn it into an algebraic expression.
example:
billy has $2 he borrows 7$ from a friend and $8 from another. how much money does billy owe his friends?
what they want to know is how much billy owes his friends.
so you would add the two and subtract it from 2
expression=
7 + 8 = 15 then it is 2 - 15 = 2 + (-15)= -13
so he is under $13 so he owes his friends $13
