Okay, I don't usually get nervous before performing on stage. I get really nervous during auditions, though and because I'm nervous I perform poorly and I don't get a callback. I hate knowing that I could do really well, but blowing it because I'm nervous. Does anyone know how I can overcome my audition nerves? I will rate high. Thanks. (link)
This is perfectly normal. In fact, this happens to many professional actors/actresses as well. It's basically a psychological thing. When you're up on stage in front of a large audience, your mind is tricked into believing that your audience is part of the play. or in other words, you become part of the audience, so you feel as though you can control your nerves, since nobody is picking you out and judging you. However, when auditioning, there is constant tension between you and the director, because you both want to make the part work. But my advice would just be to have fun.
good luck with your acting!
