alright well i've got this boyfriend and like i like him a lot! And we havnt had sex or anything but he wants to and what not. But my fear is that hes had sex with 5 different people... Thats nothing i'm interested in ya know! I'm still a virgin and like I'm not sure if i want to lose it to my boyfriend. See i'm scared to have sex with him because i'm scared of getting any STD or whatever. But like he claims he doesnt have any, because recently he got out of the hospital because he got into a major accident and he was in there for like 7 months, and they test you for all that and stuff and he says he hasnt had sex since hes been out of the hospital. Should i wait and see if hes the right person or what should i do!?! HELP ME! (link)

The fact that he was in the hospital doesn't mean that he had a full work up to test for STDs. If/when you decide that you're ready to have sex with him (don't feel pressured to do it - wait until you feel ready to do it), tell him that you want him to get a full test for STDs. You can call a local health clinic or the local Planned Parenthood and ask ifthey can tell you where he can go for the full set of tests. You can also go in for testing if you've participated in any sexual contact with another person (even if you haven't had sex) so that he feels better about it. And if you do choose to go in for testing, you can also get some information about safe sex and/or about birth control.
And just so you know, you can transmit STDs via oral sex as well as intercourse, so if you choose to have oral sex, you should be aware that just wearing a condom during intercourse isn't going to protect you from some things.
