I do not understand IP addresses at all. What are they for? How can you track someone through them? I know everyone has one and they are used for internet purposes. I just don't know what purposes or why someone would want to know someone else's. This all arose when I saw something that said when you go in the advicenators chatroom (I believe using the CGI thing) everyone can see it. I wasn't sure if that was good or bad. So can someone please explain to me what this is for? (link)

Ip means internet protocol.If we want to communicate two or more system we need a ip address. Each system has unique
ip address. ip address consists of 4 bytes seperated by dots. Your IP address is assigned by an ISP or by yourself.
