I am SO incredibly afraid of bugs. Any type of bug can really freak me out. Usually I end up crying and feel like I am going to pass out. I end up with wanting to throw up, too.
I know most people aren't so afraid of insects. I mean, my fears goes as far as harmless bugs like butterflies. I simply do not want their legs to touch me. It freaks me out to even think about their legs crawling on my skin.
The most I could come up with was a fear since infancy, as I was taken to the hospital because I had SO many insect bites on me. The doctors just informed them that I was more allergic than most people to these bites and needed to be kept away from times I would come in contact with bugs. Of course, I don't remember ANY of this, but I do remember growing up and having HUGE welts on my body from where a bug had bit me. They usually hurt and itched so it was terribly confusing.
I grew up always wearing long pants, usually long sleeved shirts if I could manage it, and practically bathing myself in OFF bug spray.
I still have this fear though and was wondering if there was a way to overcome this or if it was something I just have to cope with for the rest of my life. I've dealt with it so long now. It's really embarrassing, especially when it comes to be dodging butterflies and stuff that I KNOW is completely harmless.
Any advice? Even if someone is like me, knowing I'm not alone in this is very helpful... (link)

I am also terrified of flying insects. I don't know why but they scare the hell out of me. The odd thing is, when I was a kid I use to play with things like grasshoppers and stuff but now I'm petrified of them. Flies, Butterflies, Ladybugs and small moths don't bother me but just about any other bug+wings=me freak the fuck out. Mosquito Hawks, dragonflies, grasshoppers, praying mantis' large moths, crickets anything like that I run away in terror. Even thinking about it makes my skin crawl. I can't sleep knowing theirs a mosquito hawk in my room, I have to kill it because it might land on my face while I'm sleeping. One time there was a large green grasshopper right in front of my door and I couldn't go inside because if I passed it it might fly at me. I sat there for a while throwing things at it hoping it would go away lol. Whenever I see one I always scream with my mouth closed because I'm always afraid they're going to fly in my mouth so I look even more like a freak lol. It's a problem I know. I wish I could overcome it.
I hear the best way to do it is with Exposure therapy which basically means they'll tie you down and sit you in like a tub full of the thing you're afraid of, in our case flying insects, until your body eventually gets tired and you stop freaking out. They cannot release you before you reach that point or you're phobia will be even worse than before.
