Hello, my name is Courtney. I used to have a column on here when I was thirteen so I decided to set up another one and see how it goes. I am currently a freshman in college pursuing a double major in business and psychology. I have been a lifeguard for the past two years and loved it up until the management decided to start being jerks. I have also had many other jobs as well. I love watching and playing many different kinds of sports. Through out my seventeen years of life I have experienced a lot of things so hopefully I will be able to answer all of your questions . . ask away! =]

Okay so I tried shaving 'down there' just like around the edges, bikini area, I guess... but now it's SOO ITCHY and red and uncomfortable and I don't like it!!
But I get soo selfconscious about down there. And I don't know what to do about it :[
This is called razor burn. For razor burn what I do is after I shave my bikini line, armpits, etc I get out of the shower, dry off, and put Neosporin (other the generic version of this) on. Another option is buying a cream or gel from a store that is specially made for razor burn such as a Sally Hansen product. You could type this into Google and figure out which one you would like to use based on consumer reviews and price. Or you could just go to your local drug or grocery store. Hope I helped =]

i was the person with the birth control question. so i have been taking it for two years now, and as you said, your suppose to be taking the sugar pills when your on your period, but for me thats not how it is. i just got my period and i'm still taking the dark green one's until i start a new pack on sunday, then i will be taking the sugar pills. the weird thing is that i have the "circle container" if you know what im talking about and when i put the pills in, it says to put it on sunday, and those are the white ones. so i dont think im taking it wrong but why am i still taking the dark green ones when im on my period and then start taking the sugar pills on sunday? im still getting my period the same time every month im suppose to but i dont know if this is going to screw it up, is this going to protect me from sex? thanks!!
That is very odd. I suggest you ask your doctor about this one because that really shouldn't be happening. If you have been taking it for two years correctly this shouldn't be happening. I'm not saying you are taking it incorrectly because according to what you have told me you are taking it correctly. If the pills aren't working for you talk to your doctor and ask them about it. They will probably change your dosage or switch you to another prescription of birth control. My friend had a problem similar to this so the changed her dosage and changed her to a pill where she only gets her period four times a year. Also, the pills should protect you from sex even though your period isn't in sync with the pill. However, just talk to your doctor about this before you have sex or wear a condom just to be safe. =]

okay so i have been taking birth control for about two years now, im on the one called ortho-tri cyclen lo. i first took it when i was suppose to. i think i started it on a sunday? but now i get my periods on wednesdays. your suppose to have your period when taking the white sugar pills right? well when i have my period i am taking the dark green ones for about 4 days, and then i'm on the white ones. i haven't missed a day, and so i dont know what could of gone wrong. is this bad? im still a virgin but am planning on having sex within the next couples weeks, so will this birth control still be effective? i get my period exactly when im suppose to, on wednesdays every month. the thing is during the week i take it at about 6:30am and on the weekends i take it at 10:00am. considering i dont want to wake up that early, because i wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. i know this is bad, but the weird thing is that i still get my period when i'm suppose to! i should be getting my period tomorrow, and i'm pretty sure i'll be taking the dark green one's for about 4 days, then on sunday, when i start a new pack, i'll start taking the white ones. and my period will end around next tuesday or wednesday. i talked to my parents two weekends ago, and was like "i think i should go to the doctor because i think somehow my days got messed up on my birth control, and i want to see if i can switch the times i take it.." and both of them said, "i think you will be fine. the doctor will probably want to see you in a couple months anyways just to check up on you to see how you're doing" they know im not sexually active but they dont know i am planning on having sex in two weeks. so now i'm really worried that the birth control i'm taking wont be effective, and of course we WILL be using a condom too, but i'm a paranoid freak haha and do not want to get pregnant. so will i be okay if i have sex in two weeks? will the birth control be effective like it should be? When you first start taking birth control you will experience spotting or your full blown period because you are just getting used to the medicine. After a few months your period should start coming during the week you take the sugar pills. The doctor told me that the birth control would not be fully effective until after I have taken the pills for a few months, which is probably standard for all birth control perscriptions. So that means that your period will come at times it isn't supposed to, according to your pill pack, and you should definitely use a condom until it does become fully effective. im 16/f. does anyone know a good place to find a small top hat, or a normal top hat? i really need one to go with my costume, and ive been looking at tuxedo stores and no one really has any, and if they do they are super expensive. i would love love love to have a smaller top hat to go on more of the side of my head, but i could deal with a normal size top hat. pleaseee help i need it before friday! thanks in advance
My friend wore a top hat in her senior pictures and I believe she got it at Macys. You could probably find one in most department stores but if not you might be able to find one in H&M, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, or Wet Seal. Good luck =]

I'm kind of leery of using birth control pills because of the possibility of gaining weight (I just got done losing a bunch of weight and I don't want it to fluctuate). :S
What is your experience with the pill? Did you gain a lot of weight once you started it?

Personally I didn't gain weight when I started birth control. I did not see a change in weight when any of my other friends started taking birth control. My doctor told me before I started taking it that there was a slight chance that I might gain weight but it would be 5lbs at most. Before you go on the pill you will have a consultation with either your doctor or a nurse and they will go over all the information you need to know and answer your questions. One thing that I really liked about birth control was that it helped clear up my skin. I was 15 at the time so my hormones were going crazy and I had some mild acne. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask =]
For some reason I get REALLY heavy flow periods - go through a super plus tampon in about 3 hours. i hate having it at high school because i don't want to have to change them so often because its quite embarrassing, really...
i want to know if theres a way that i can "protect" myself without having to run to the bathroom during school 3 times a day... i was thinking of possibly getting one of those menstrual cups, do they work good for heavy flows and for teens?
I have no clue what a menstrual cup is so I am sorry I can't help you with that. However, I suggest talking to your doctor about birth control. I used to have the same problem as you. I had a super heavy flow with really bad cramps and my periods would last 10 days and I would only get 8 days without my period when my next 10 day menstrual cycle would come. Basically I was living in a menstrual hell. Now I take birth control and my period only comes once a month, it is super light (I use regulars now), I don't get cramps, and my period only lasts 3-4 days. If for some reason you are not able to use birth control I just saw new tampons in the store the other day that are higher up than super plus so maybe you could look into buying those. Okay, I am thirteen and I am a girl. So for Halloween this year I want to have a really cute costume because this is the first year I am going to a party with boys. I want a cute costume, but I don't want to look trashy. Any ideas?
You could be on of the girls from Saved by the Bell . . Dress up in early 90's/80's clothes. That would be a fairly simple costume to make since so many things from the 80's are coming back into style.

Hooray for winter time, that means a new hoodie. I just don't know where to get one! I want one with fur on the inside, preferably a skate hoodie....But i also want it to be really really vibrant and I want it to stand out. Please send me some ideas....Budget is like....somewhere around 70.
I would suggest Zumiez. Some malls have Zumiez stores but if you don't have a store anywhere near you here is the website ( www.zumiez.com ). They have millions of cute and interesting hoodies there. They sell a lot of skateboarding clothing and actual skateboards in the store so you will definitely be able to find a skateboarding hoodie. Hope I helped =]
Ok so this is probably a weird question. For about 4 years ive been cutting, not out of control or anything just a comfort thing for me. This isnt a question about how to stop or w/e so please dont tell me anything like that. Well when i first started and for about 2 years after, I felt really bad about it and felt like it was stupid and wrong and just all around bad. But lately i find myself seeing it as just a normal part of life, it doesnt phase me anymore. I have no real desire left in me to stop because i dont personally see it as a problem. what i want to know is: is the fact that i no longer see it as a problem, a problem itself? or since it just doesnt bother me, should it not matter? obviously im seeing things irrationally, but in anyone elses opinion, is this bad?
I am the same exact way. I have been cutting myself for about 3-4 years now - not like major, blood everywhere cuts. Cutting is a problem and it is definitely not healthy. Causing yourself harm for comfort . . It seems a little backwards. Actually, it is really backwards. I realize this yet I still do it.
My boyfriend found out that I do this and he became extremely upset . . He became even more upset when I told him it really wasn't a big deal because he thought it was.
Of course it matters that you cut yourself because it is not the right thing to do for comfort.
It would be hypocritical for me to tell you to stop but if you can it is probably for the better because obviously it isn't the most healthy habit to have. If you ever want to talk about this more just send me a message or what-not. I hope I helped =]

I would suggest going to your local sports store or even to Walmart. I am not sure if you know what cheer shorts or Soffee shorts look like, you could probably search for them on google, but you could probably find an orange pair of those shorts which usually are like 7 dollars. You also might be able to buy similar socks at a sporting goods store possibly in the soccer or field hockey sections.
I looked at a few websites to see what I could find for hooters outfits and they are fairly expensive. To find a real outfits just search on Google or Ebay. Hope I helped.
so im a Christian. 4 & a half years ago, my grandma, who was basically my best friend and second mom, died of an unknown cancer. that was the hardest time of my life, she was one of the most important and closest people to me. now im 18 and i've been thinking about a tattoo for some time. i originally planned to get a cross with a banner wrapped around it, with my grandma's initials inside the banner, and maybe "always faithful" in chinese symbols under the cross. but, even though the cross tattoos are awesome, they're pretty overdone. can anyone give me any ideas of what else i could use? its gonna be on the top of my foot, so it cant be huge but it'll be a decent size. and i want it to include her initials and also symbolize my faith as a Christian, bc during that time when she died, is when i was truly saved. and please dont say google tattoo pictures, id like personal ideas. thanks.
Personally, I like your idea with the cross and her letters in the banner. Except I would have "always faithful" written in cursive, not Chinese symbols unless they are significant to you, either above or below the cross. I think that would be a beautiful tattoo. Also, maybe instead of the cross you could get an open bible tattooed on your foot with "always faithful" above, below, or on one of the pages and then have your grandmother's initials on the other page. If you decide not to put "always faithful" on one of the pages you could put a cross, a dove, or something else. My personal favorite of those two options is the tattoo with the cross. ... Uh, 'get off' I suppose you could say. Me and my boyfirend have been together two years and he was also my first, so he's really been the only thing I've known to do with sexual experiences and vice versa, because he never touched a girl before me either.

A lot of girls usually don't reach an orgasm during sex. Some people find out what they like most through self-exploration but if you are uncomfortable with that then use his hand (or tongue) to figure out what you do like. Tell him what feels good and what doesn't . . "be his eyes". If something feels good let him know so he can continue to do it and learn all of your "hot spots". Hey guys i'm 17/f. i have Normal-Dry skin that is VERY VERY Sensitive skin
I have Acne beside the nose, on the chin and forhead and about 80% of the acne is under the skin. I have tried just about every acne product in stores. (Pro-Active does not work for me)
Products either leave my skin dry, oily, or doesn't effect me at all. I used to have like breakouts every now and then but my acne started to get bad around March 08. I do feel very very stressed a lot and i know that can play a roll in causing acne.
Is there medication like pills or something that a dermatologist can give you to clear up acne that refuses to go away? If you've ever heard about it or have it yourself i would greatly appreciate it if you told me about it!! because i'm begining to think that nothing will get rid of my acne.
ALSO; Has anyone used skin ID..does it ACTUALLY work?
Proactive rarely works for people with serious acne no matter what they say on the television.
I suggest either making an appointment with your doctor or a dermatologist. They will asses your condition and pick out the best acne medicine for your skin type and the severity of your acne. Dermatologist are the skin experts so if your doctor can't help you they will usually recommend a dermatologist or just find one yourself. Also, along with topical medicine sometimes doctors perscribe birth control to women who have acne because that may also help to control acne. Hope I helped! =]
So I just got braces. And I have a boyfriend and we kiss a lot? haha. But anyway, I havn't kissed him with the braces because i'm worried that something will go wrong and my braces will screw it all up. So is it really true that its really hard to kiss people with braces?!
I have never heard of anyone have difficulty kissing with braces so I think you're in the clear. A bunch of my friends have had braces and I even used to have a boyfriend who had braces when I was thirteen. You have nothing to worry about. =]
