The Bush campaign managed to blind people with notions of "morallity". Bigots who don't want gay people to have equal rights support Bush. People who want to take away a woman's right to choose support Bush. People who don't understand the purpose of separation of church and state that this country was founded on support Bush.
They look past the statistics as the economy suffers and the death toll in the unecessary war in Iraq climbs, and believe that they are good, Chistian people for putting such things over the greater good of the country and the world.
It was good campaign propaganda, and I don't really blame those people for falling into it. It's just incredibly sad.

i'm in middle school and we have the popular cheerleaders. Everyone tells me how thin and beautiful i am. And the popular girls aren't that pretty, but all the boys love them. I'm not a cheerleader but i think i'm just as good as those girls. why don't the boys notice me? (link)

A very wise teacher once told me when I was complaining about something like that in the 6th grade, "girls mature faster than boys. Don't expect the boys around you to be at your level until at least the 10th grade". (Surprize surprize, that's when I had my first relationship that was actually worth having,)
But I believe there are some real worthwhile boys out there for you to find - the type that don't just drool over slutty cheerleaders. They might be rare, but when you find one, it's completely worth it. Look at it this way - those attention-whores are just weeding out the shallow, worthless boys, so you don't have to.
