I'm considering getting two pet birds, and wanted to know a couple of things:
a) Which breeds make good pets? I'd like to be able to play with them/take them out of the cage.. something that's relatively easy to care for, but fun to have. OH, and nothing big like a parrot.
b) What are some good tips for caring for different types of pet birds? e.g: what kind of fresh foods can I give different kinds of birds, How can I care for them, in terms of mental/phsyical health ...playing with them, etc..
Thanks! (link)

a) I have two cockatiels. They are awesome. If you look them up, they are decently sized for what you would want. BUT! When you get two birds, make sure:
1. They are handfed.
2. They do not have any mites.
If they are handfed, they are ten times more friendlier and funner to be around. Mites are parasites that basically eat your bird alive, you can spray the birds with stuff and put up things that keep them away though.
THEY MAKE GREAT PETS! REALLY!
b)Once again, get a mite protector. You can really feed them anything. Mine LOVE millet which is something you get at the pet store. They also like Smartfood. For fruits, we have tried carrots, apples, bananas, and i think that is it. There is a whole website for them, it's probably cockatiels.org or something but i know i have been there. You can also just look it up on google.
To care for them, refill their food whenever gets low, and their water whenever it gets dirty. Females LOVE bathing, so you can get them mini tubs because htey like to bathe themselves. If you get two, you don't have to entertain them much, but boys love to talk. That's all i have, good luck!
