I'm your average guy of no particular age. I'm a student and teacher of all thing music and am currently experiencing a viscious love triangle between my saxophone and my bass. I have my problems, same as the next guy. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say for help, and I'd love to help whoever I can with whatever I can. Happy advising to all! :)

Any songs that are hopeful? Like Better Days, by the Goo Goo Dolls, or Everything Will Be Alright by Joshua Radin. (link)

No Woman, No Cry- Bob Marley
Don't Worry, Be Happy- Bobby McFerrin
First Day of my Life- Bright Eyes
Such Great Heights- Postal Service (or Iron and wine, I prefer the latter)
Hope this helps!

Some of the funniest and most confusing love life stories come from an unknown band called "The Mountain Goats". If you check them out, lok for "No Children" (Hilarious and twisted), "Alpha Rats Nest", and "Get Lonely". Happy Listening!

i am about to start the drums and i gave up on the guitar. and i want to join my schools band (no i am not a nerd that joins the band i am just trying to learn it). should i what do i do? (link)

I'd like to start by saying joining band does not by any means make you a nerd. Last year, the highschools first trumpet player (an amazing musician going to Eastman this year) was the quarterback on the varsity football team and prom king. Sounds a bit surreal, yes, but it's the truth. Now, on to learning! The best way, as the others have said, Is to find a teacher who knows what they are doing. You might have to spend some cash, but a professional teacher will proide results in the way you want a lot faster than your friends will. I highly encourage you to join the band, and talk to the director. They usually tend to be some of the nicer people working at your school. Good luck and happy drumming!

im 14, emm so its my cousins 15's in a couple months and she wants me to sing this really pretty song there i just dont know which one any suggestions? (link)

Well, there are a number of songs tto choose from!
Here's a few heart-string pullers from my more indie collection:
Seaside- the Kooks (very simple, but gorgeous song)
Such Great Heights- Iron and Wine (Originally done by the Postal Service, but the Iron and Wine is just beautiful)
First Day of My Life- Bright Eyes (Just read the lyrics, and tell me that's not amazing)
Hey Jude- the Beatles (Not exactly a pretty song, but I love it anyway and figured I'd throw it in)
The Long and Winding Road- the Beatles (The Beatles aren't indie, I know, but excellent tune :) )
Brooklyn Boy- Kevin Devine
Best of luck! I didn't know if you would be accompanied by anyone, so most of these are songs that are relatively easy to play on acoustic guitar while singing. "First Day of My Life" won me my first girlfriend :)
