Well, the active ingredient is the chemical salvinorin A. There haven't really been much if any studies on exactly how it works, but it doesn't appear to be all that harmful to your body. It is actually safer to take it orally than it is to smoke it though, because of tar and such in the lungs. It was used by Mazatec shamans, which is kinda cool, and has it's own psychopharmacological category, called "phantastica." It's legal because not many people even know about it and it's usually free.
It's immediate effects are a psychadelic and euphoric mixture, but it also has longterm effects. For an hour or so after it leaves a euphoric feeling and for several days it leaves a hightened mood and good feeling about life.
If you choose to smoke it you have to get it hooter than tobacco to completely vaporize the salvinorin A. For best effects smoke 2 leaves in a pipe and hold the smoke in your lungs for 30 seconds and take 3 hits in 2 minutes.
The most potent way to take it is by vaporizing it by heating aluminum foil with the leaf on it and inhaling the vapors with a straw. But be very careful, since it is so potent it takes almost no vapor to have higher effects than smoking it. It could also conceivably be smoked from a crackpipe if it can get hot enough.

I have this black lab dog that is really dumb. I try to play fetch with her. When I throw the stick she goes to get it, but then she doesn't bring it back. What should I do to get her to bring the stick back? (link)

Well, you could do this several ways:
1) Don't play fetch.
2) Get a smarter dog.
3) Tell everyone the dog figured out the game and refuses to play such a trivial game.
4) Reward the dog for bringing it back.
Numbers 1 and 3 are the easiest. Number 2 costs more and is harder to do. Number 4 would take the most time but could be the best solution.
