My boyfriend have been dating for a month now. Within a week of us dating, my mom brought up sex. She is extremely tight on that subject, because I've had sex before and she got very angry when she found out, but she said a while ago, "You can have sex with John.......as long as we go to a doctor first and get you all set."
I was taken aback... because I never expected that. I only nodded since I didn't wanna make her suspicious or jump into it too quick. I'm wondering if she is just joking, or is she really serious? What do you think? And if I wanted to have sex with my boyfriend (not yet of course,) how would I bring it up without it having to be so awkward??

Your mother is being serious. And thats because she really cares about you. Most mothers, wouldnt have been so cool so consider yourself lucky. My mom did this to me when I had my first boyfriend. She just didnt want me to become pregnant, and thats how your mother feels too. If you do decide you want to have sex with your boyfriend, approach your mom. Tell her "Mom, I know you wanted me to come to you, when I decided I was ready to have sex. And i have been thinking about it. Can you help me set up a Drs. appointment?" and she would also really love it if you asked her to go with you. It makes her feel like you still need her. But you shouldnt be in any rush to have sex. I am 20 years old, engaged, and am still a virgin. But everyone is different and I am glad your handling this maturely.
