15/f. my best guy friend recently admitted to me that he has a major crush on me. however, i see him as a brother (and he has remarked that he still sees me as somebody that he can talk to). he and i have talked about how we're always going to stay friends, even if we have feelings for one another because we have a really good friendship. he also asked me if i'd like to go with him to a banquet next year as friends, and i said yes. my only concern is that now things are going to be awkward between us. how can i let him know that it's perfectly fine with me if he likes me, and how would you feel if you were in his position?
I was recently in the same position. I told my best guy friend that I liked him. But I didn't allow it to become awkward. I felt really weird after I told him (seeing that i have a boyfriend and i have liked him forever.) But we got over it. Now I am just friends with him. That's how i feel being in "his position."
But I would say that things wont get awkward, unless you let them. Keep talking to him the amount of time that you talked to him before he said he liked you. Don't hide things from him. Keep him up-to-date on your life, and keep him as a "brother."
To tell him that you are comfortable with him liking you, mention it casually and just say online or something like : "I know that you like me, and thats fine with me, I just don't want to lose this amazing FRIENDSHIP we have." Something along those lines. Beating around to tell someone somthing never works, be straight with him, like im sure you have been.
