Hey,
Can you please help me if you know any of this [4 questions]. i'll probably read this right before school tomarrow. My test is on domain, range, translations[i get most of that]. and it's on functions like f(g)=, g(f)=,f(f)=, g(g)=. and it is on getting the inverse of functions. alright i need help with the following:
heres an example:
find the inverse.
f(x)= 2-x/3+x
i got -3/2x, and if that's right, how do i check it because i need to know that for the test.
also i have an algerbra question:
how do you divide 2/(3/4). it's like a fraction in a fraction. i tryed to solve that and got 8/3.
okay, and if lets say we have f(x)=1/(x+2).
how do you translate the numerator onto a graph? [logically explain please]
and now one more question.

im out of school and haven't learned this since the begining of my sophomore year so i can't really help with all of it.
as for dividing the 2 over the 3/4 [i hope thats what you meant] you do it like this...
(2/1)/(3/4) [2/1 is the same thing as 2, which you probably know haha]
then you multiply by taking the reciprocal. so its...
(2/1)/(4/3)
you multiply across so its 2x4=8
and
1x3=3
it can't be reduced so the answer is 8/3
so you were right hahah

Ok this is for an assignment for school. I need to ask people of their favorite events in history and why? I need about 10 and i already have 3, but if you have more than one favorite event then feel free to tell me. So far I have:
The fall of communism
The civil war
The fall of the roman empire

these weren't really my favorites but they're just some more ideas...
- the reconstruction era [when the north and south made ammends]. it brought our country closer together
- industrial revolution. bascially why we have most of the stuff we do now
- the invention of the cotton gin. you wouldn't have as many clothes cause they'd take forever to make.
- equal rights for black people. everyone should have equal rights now just one set group.
- equal rights for women. women wouldn't be able to do the things they're able to do today
- womens voting rights. we wouldn't have a say in the world.

so i have this summer assignment that says i have to pick FIVE IMPORTANT current issues, and describe them and give my oppinion. i've thought of issues such as the economy and gas prices, but i need 3 more and of course there all those issues out there such as abortion, alchohol, drugs, animal rights, global warming, etc etc...these issues have always been around and im not sure if they can be described as important CURRENT issues...so my question is what are some important issues to discuss that are happening right now. oh and please anything but the 2008 election because weve been told not to use it...

As some of you may know first-hand, AP US History is a rigorous United States history course. It's essays, tests every week, and more essays, plus the midterm is known for being supremely difficult.
According to my friends who have taken it, APUSH (as we students so fondly call it) is hell on earth.
Our summer work for APUSH is: Six essays as well as a 1-page-long introduction to ourselves. Due 19th September.
But...I'm not sure if i want to do APUSH. Or rather, if APUSH is really a class for me. Because:
1. History is my least favorite subject.
2. I'm already taking Honors Math Analysis, Honors English III, and Honors Physics
3. I play varsity volleyball, track, and lacrosse
4. I'm in a lot of extracurriculars/volunteer programs
5. PSATs & SAT IIs, enough said
6. Last year, I tried taking on honors history too, but I had to drop it after a month because I wasn't used to all the work. If I had stayed, I most certainly would have failed the semester.
The problem is, I don't have another AP course on my schedule, and I really need to have one so my chances are higher for getting into Princeton University (or Columbia).
Also, I want to wait and see how APUSH is for myself. BUT, I don't want to do the essays and then end up dropping the class. Also I could not do the essays, but end up keeping the class, which would mean I would have to pull 6 essays from deep out of my ass in a tiny amount of time.
so..what is your opinion? should i take it or not? thanks a lot in advance!!
i agree with the other person, this is a class where you actually have to be somewhat interested in some of the material. your schedule is already tough. colleges wanna see you exceed. they would rather see you exceed in an honors class than fail in an ap class.
also, its gonna be really hard if you have a lot of extra curriculars.
i agree, it would be nice to have on your transcript, but in this case i think it would be better to just take honors or regular instead of ap.

What's football stats in high school and how do you do it? Is it hard/time consuming, etc?
im not sure what you're asking about the stats part. like divisions? ahh sorry idk ! buttt for the time consuming thing, it definitely is. at my school they practice for a while every day after school and they have huge games friday nights. its hard at the begining but the work gets easier.

Okay, so I don't want to go to my old school anymore. The teachers don't teach me anything, they just yell at me for asking questions. Well, I found this new school my friend is going to. She said they teach you better there and so have several other people I asked. It's a good school in other words. Well, first my old school has to release me. I have an appointment to register at this new school on Monday August 18th. I ALSO have a dentist appointment. Well, the counsler from my old school isn't going to be in until the 18th, so I have to ask to be released on the 18th. All these things happen on the 18th and my mom started yelling at me, telling me I'm a spoiled brat and things, but I don't get it! I'm asking for a better education here, so why am I getting beat on for it?! Well, my mom says I'm smart enough, but I'm a lazy brat and she said she'd get rid of the computer. I live on the computer, yes, but I do to do my homework! I'm so confused now! What do I do?!
i think your moms just getting mad because shes stressed that all of these things are happening on the same day.
definitely register for your new school. try and find a good schedule and let your mom know so shes not as stressed about everything. and see if you can work things around your dentist appointment cause thats just another thing your mom will have to do.
also, id tell your mom why you're switching schools. explain to her its because you want a better education.

I'm going into my junior year this fall, and I'm nervous. I heard it's one of the most important, yet the most hard year in high school.
I'm also going to be getting my permit AND my job in October. I need a job simply because I'm BROKE.
I need study tips, any tips for balancing time, and any other advice for my junior year.
Also, should I be looking into college? I want to be a vet, so should I also be doing anything else? (Volunteering, etc.)
im going into my junior year too and ive heard the same thing. we're in the same boat actually hahah. [i get my license and a job in september]
but anyways, you definitely should be looking at colleges now. ive been looking since freshman year. i use myroad.com [also collegeboard.com] and its amazingg ! it has every college you could ever imagine and you can compare two or three of them together. also, you can pick all the things you want in a school and it'll search which schools have all of your criteria. seriously, its worth it. i got it through my school so i dont have to pay. but even if i didn't, id still buy it. its definitely worth the money.
since you want to be a vet, itd look really good on your college resume to have volunteer hours at a local shelter or your participation in an animal rights club. you can also be an active member of PETA.
as for study tips, since you're always gonna be on the go, try and make flash cards. look at the time you spend on the bus [or however you get to school] as another chance to study. you're gonna need a lot of time for things so sleep kinda gets pushed aside. small things like showering at night will save you time in the morning so you aren't always dragging your butt hahah. another thing for studying is dont save it all for the night before a test. its way easier said than done but it will save you time if you study a little each day.

k so this may sound looserish but whatever.
ive been going to my highschool for only one year, i showed up in 10th grade and everyone knew eachother already even since middle school and so it was a little difficult to make friends at first seeing as how im kind of shy. eventually i became friends with these two girls and we were always together and known as the trio, had lunch together etc. i got to know other ppl but was never really interested in getting really close to anyone else because i had them. now school is going to start soon and i just found out that one of the two girls is moving and the other one might not be in the same lunch period as me and so now i have no idea who im going to sit with. i dont want to sit by myself but also i cant just barge in on other people and sit with them because ive seen how that can be annoying to ppl. so what could i do?
when you find out what lunch you're in, look for other people who are in that lunch throught the day and ask if you wanna sit together. im sure you'll find someone. also, try and branch out to make new friends. its nice to have one best friend, but its even better to have a lot of good friends or just friends.

Okay.... well here is my problem, summer fucked me up, ahem well i have completely forgotten how to write a 5 paragraph essay and my teacher this year isnt giving us the handout. so my paper is due by the end of the day like 2:25 pm [U.S. & Canada eastern] and i really really really would like to get this paper done now. since i only have what, twelve hours to do it.

the way my school does it is ...
first paragraph you state your thesis and what you'll be talking about in your three body paragraphs. the next three paragraphs are body paragraphs that each have a different subject. and your last paragraph is your ending where you sum everything up and restate your thesis.

well 2morrow school starts! i know who my teachers are going to be, but ive never met them. im afraid though!!! i know where everything is, but im still afraid! its also been a while since ive seen my bf (we've been going out for like...10 or 11 months. we barely ever kiss or hold hands, so i'm going to start holding hands with him. and i only have one class and lunch with him)
well anyway, how can i get over being so nervous with school startiing, the teachers, my classes (idk what they will be, but i KNOW that i only have one class with my bf, b/c hes in the other half of the grade.)

i'm sorry for seeing this now ! you probably wont even get it in time buttt ... everyone gets nervous about the first day of school. its normal. just think of all the new and exciting things. new friends, new supplies, etc. teachers usually explain who they are and whats up with the class on the first day. i'm not gonna know my classes on the first day either. i dont really know how you can get over it. for me, i'm not too worried about it because i know many people from last year and this summer. hope i helped !
