ok i have this thing about going back wards i get so scared to. and i a trying out for cheering and i go to gymnastics 2 times a week and my gymnastics trainer tells me that i am good and that i can do my back handpring by my self but i am to scared to. and like it weird like i taught myself how to do one before and i did it wiked good and then i fell on my head and now i am so scare to do anything backwords. and my trainer tells me that it is harder to do an arial then it is to do a bachandspring and i think that it isn't because i am notafrade to do anything front wards can any one help me or tell me a good way to get over my fear? Heh, I've seen this before, I've done cheerleading for 5 years so I know what you mean. I think you're going through a mental block, there's different things that people do to get over it. One way that helps is to think of a count to do it to every time, other is to go ahead and fall and realize that it's not the end of the world, also not thinking about it and just throwing it regardless of if you'll get hurt will easily bring up your confidence. If you have access to a pool, practicing back dives off the diving board or side of the pool helps too. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help. Good luck with tryouts.
