My parents got divorced.. and since they have been divorced ive been going through tough times that no one really knows about.. I guess i hide it well.. i started to cut myself about 3 years ago.. wehn people ask me i just make up lame excuses.. I dont think they believe me but its been working.. I just keep thinkin of what it could have been like if they were still together.. What should i do.. please help

You really need to get help.. Your friends might not wanna tell anyone because they dont want to hurt you. Its bad on their part but they are trying to stay true to you and they dont want you to get mad.. Divorce is one of the toughest things that teens have to go through.. Dont hide your feelings, If you need to talk to someone talk to a counselor, a friend, therapist, or a psychiatrist. Self Mutilation is a hard thing to describe.. There are other alternates that you can do other than cut yourself to release your anger and pain.. Tell your parents that you want to see a psychiatrist and tell them whats going on.. becasue no one is gunna be able to help you if u keep hiding it.. Your parents surely will get you help and seek whats best for you..You cutting yourself is def. not going to get your parents back together.. its better to be happily divorced than unhappily married.. Dont punish yourself for this your parents couldnt work out together and its not your fault.. DONT BLAME YOURSELF! I hope everything works out well...PLease get help!

this is for anyone whose parents divorced, i just need to get a general idea of what it's gonna be like at divorce court. we're going to court at the end of september. my dad has had a girlfriend for around three years and last summer (2003) she had a baby boy. i am thirteen and my little brother is 11. will i get to tell my side of the story? will my brother? how long will it take? thanks for reading this and please don't answer if you've never been to divorce court.

Usually in Divorce court, unless you were abused, raped, etc. The children dont really get to tell a side of the story. Your parents usually go in and debate on the custody situation. It can take anywhere from 30min-2 hours i believe.. The custody situation will either be full, or joined(parents share time), and full with visitation. Then the judge will tell you what the children CAN do.. Such as if you want to live with one parent, you are able to tell them that when you are 15 and or 16 (depending on which state you live in). Your attorney might ask you some questions and may tell the judge that.. Good Luck Hun, i hope everything works out with the situation your going through, i know it may be tough at sometimes.. just be there for your brother and never give up on what you believe is right!!

female,20 2 children eldest 2 youngest 7 weeks,differant dads when i drink alchol i get violent not al the time just when im stressed my partner over the past 4 weeks my partener has broken my finger n given me a black eye on both occasions he has said sorry and it will never happen again. he has taken my eldest son on as his own. i dont want to be a single mum with 2 children by differant fathers but i dont want to be a nervous wreck either i feel low in myself he alwys puts me down telling me im ugly and fat i just dont know which way to turn the violence only happens when we are both drunk please give me advice

You have a distinct animal right to do whatever is necessary to protect you and the health of your offspring...This is abuse, you need to get help and get out... Ive lost an aunt to abuse... he said he would stop.. but it was too late... You dont desereve to be pushed around and for your sake and your childrens you need to leave to make it better...If this only happens when you are both drunk, and IF you want this to work you need to get counseling together.. do something before its too late.. please its not worth it..good luck.. wish you all the best
