Alright so me and my best friend nick like each other. He has only had one other girlfriend, and he went out with her for almost three years straight. they never broke up or anything. This really worries me. I've never had a real boyfriend, although i have had "things" with people if that makes sense. So i have never had a first love. Anyways it just worries me because i hear you never forget your first love and since they were each others first boyfriend, girlfriend and they lost their virginity to each other and they did go out for so long i'm just scared he will never be able to like me the same way. I'm scared he will start to miss her and possibly even want to go back to her. I'm scared i won't be able to please him like she did. I'm scared that if we go out and do something, something will remind him of her. Am i wrong for thinking this? Is there anything i can do? Has anyone else had this same feeling or went through something like this? I mean yeah, i've talked to him about it but he doesn't seem to want to talk about her and i don't either because i don't want him to start thinking about her! Get what i mean?
By the way im 18/f (link)

Calm down, you are way over thinking this! There are no guarnatees in life, but that is what makes it exciting! Exs are exs for a reason, and if he was so happy then he would still be with her. Obviously he likes you because you are you. Comparing yourself to the ex or analyzing their relationship will get you nowhere excpet making you seem insecure and jealous. You need to focus on your relationship with him now and realize that you are who he is with so that must mean that you are one awesome girl! If it helps, guys have short memories, he has probably already forgotten about whats-her-name.
