hello to all of you who need advice (or perhaps would just like to say hi).

(that's where you say "hi collin!" but you don't have to because it might scare the people around you)

i'm a musician. i play bass, violin, mandolin, keyboards, guitars, drums, harmonica, xylophone, and just about everything else. i also sing lead for my band, the dirty fries, in st. louis, missouri.


my advice may be blunt sometimes, but you all will have to deal with it. i speak the truth, and the truth isn't always pretty.


i'll answer anything, too. as long as it's not something really idiotic like "OMG what color shirt should i wear tonight?!" because i don't answer that kind of crap. i'm a strong believer in there being no stupid questions, but honestly, those are not the sort of questions that should be posted on this website. plain and simple.

Well i wanted to take guitar lessons, and i was wondering what type of guitar would be the easiest to learn?
Or which kind wouldn't be so hard on my fingers, because ive heard that they can make your fingers sore.

well, if you want "easy," and by "guitar" you mean "rawk" then you start on an electric. they have thinner strings. and they're closer together.

if you want "easy," and you want to actually learn to play a lot of different kinds of music other than just pop-rock, then i recommend starting on an acoustic, preferably new (used is cool, but tougher to learn on). you can get nylon strings or bronze/nickel wound, with nylon being easier to play.

since you would be a beginner, i would get a cheaper brand. ibanez makes decent electrics and acoustics, but i'm partial to squier. fender owns them, and they're basically just fenders for beginners, although they have pretty high-end ones too.

if you don't want your fingers to hurt you shouldn't learn to play the guitar. i've played mandolin (ahem, doubled strings, like a 12 string guitar) for 6 years and it still hurts sometimes. i've played bass for four years and my fingers still hurt sometimes, and i've played violin for 8 years and it still hurts sometimes. it's gonna hurt until you develop major calluses. sorry, but that's the way it is. honestly, i just started teaching myself guitar, but it still hurts after a while.

Does Beck have any other songs that are similar in sound with the ones 1000BPM and Clap Hands. I loveee those beats.

oo a beck question! beck is one of my favorite artists, and i rarely ever meet anyone who likes him.


i'd say high 5! (rock the catskills). but everything he does is good. definitely buy odelay. the entire album. that is possibly the greatest album ever recorded.

I need website links for free music downloading.. I tried searching for them myself but most of it had some sort of payments to be made in them... I usually download music from wwww.yourmp3.com ..but then sometimes i end up in a fix coz the songs i downloaded would not be the full version and the link would be wrong and i end up downloading some other song....please help!!!

hey. i was wondering whats an easy song to sing in front of an audience but still have it sound good...i havent really performed in front of an audience before so ya. btw my voice doesnt do high notes very well.

DOes anybody know how to music on my myspace besides threw there music thing..I want a song on there that they don`t have..The only music thing i have is Rhapsody..

first off, making a false band page (and uploading songs that are not yours, for that matter) is illegal. . . if you get caught, you're screwed.

what you can do is go to projectplaylist.com and make a playlist. you can have a lot of songs on it, and it gives you a code to put it on myspace.

the only thing i have to warn you about is that sometimes the songs aren't the original version. what i mean is that they are a cover or a song with the same title that is a totally different song.
