If you are bleeding really heavy that could affect how many times and when you change it. Really, you can change it every hour if you wanted, but of course you'll go through more of them in a day. Most commonly it says to change every 4 to 6 hours.... every 4 hours is fine if you aren't bleeding very heavy. If you get uncomfortable, you can change it every two hours and you'll be fine.
