I am i 14 year old female and for the past few years my friends who i have known since i was 3 have been constantly been making fun of me and especially now that we are in high school its worse. They do it as a joke and it really hurts my feelings and i tell them most of the time that they're hurting my feelings and they say they'll try and stop but they never do. I can't deal with it anymore please help (link)

hi! you're the same age with my daughter and at that age a lot of you guys will encounter mean girls. anyway, just remember that these mean girls who bullies you have one thing in common with all the bullies in the world. they are nothing but insecure girls and boys and that bullying others gives them a power over their victims once their victim does not retaliate. so that's the secret on how to stop them from hurting you. retaliate. let them know that you don't allow them to hurt you. do not accept the words they say to you but instead say it back to them. practice doing it over and over again in front of the mirror so that you will gain confidence before you face them. if you do retaliate they might stop but if not then go tell your teacher or any adult who has authority over them in your school about the bullying and try to look for new friends to go with. these kids even if you know them since you were 3 are not your friends anymore. you have to let go of them and find other friends you won't hurt you.
