Last Thursday I was at the beach and I caught a yeast infection. it started out with slight itching and a lot of discharge. Then, a few days later it formed raw skin. A risen bumpy red rash. The inside of my vagina was swollen white with discharge. I started taking Azo Yeast (pills) on Thursday. the bottle says to take 3 a day if you have a yeast infection. I took 3 a day plus daily vitamins. We came home from the beach monday night and I told my mom. She's a dr so she checked it out and said to take probiotics (acidophilus) and to continue with the Azo Yeast. It still wasn't going away so while we were at Walgreens yesterday, (wednesday) i purchased some Monistat 1 day Ovule. I used it right before bed. Within two hours of sleep I woke up to a heavy rubbery white discharge and my vagina was VERY irritated red and itchy. The itchiness was UN BEAR ABLE. it still is. It's very swollen and red and nothing is comfortable. I looked up reviews online and it's an allergic reaction to the ovule preservative. How do I get rid of this reaction??? It's so unbearable. Today is Thursday. it's been a week and i'm still suffering. Help me. The dr's is closed because she is on vacation for a week. How do i get rid of an allergic reaction? (link)

I took the Monistat 1 day for a yeast infection and I had the same reaction. It was horrible, itchy and burning. Thankfully, those symptoms only lasted two days or so. I literally put an ice pack between my legs to help subside the pain, and this actually helped A LOT. I also used the anti itch cream that came with the monistat.
You might want to go to the emergency room if this has persisted for so long and your doctor isn't there. You probably still have an infection as well as an allergic reaction. Yeast infections are not always easy to self diagnose, so you might even be suffering from something else like a UTI.
Good luck,
-Abby
