so i'll be a freshman this fall in college. I'm kind of a shy/quite girl around strangers, but when I"m with my friends I can really open up and be myself.
Short story- high school was hell for me. My high school had almost 4,000 kids total and it was really hard for me to fit in and find good friends. This year in college, i really want to change that. I want to make friends right away but I'm kind of clueless as to what to do. I'm not really the person who reaches out to other people.. i get kind of nervous when I talk to people i don't know. I just need help. hah. thanks!
oh and my college is small. it has about 2,500 or 3,000 undergrads and its a D3 private school. So the class sizes will be a lot smaller than what i'm used to. my mom said its a good thing because it will allow me to be more myself in class, and not hide in the corner like high school lol. (link)

What kind of things are you good at? Do you play any sports? Is drama, singing or playing instruments your thing? When you get to college, join teams, sign up for groups, anything that gets you involved with others!
You'll be hanging out with others in a small group, and that's a great opportunity to meet people that have something in common with you.
Go out! Don't stay inside all the time because you have no one to hang out with or nothing to do, surround yourself with people. You may surprise yourself. Good luck with everything, and above all, just enjoy yourself!
